Basically this spec is about a month old i think.

Building my pc's in a few days - a week.

In terms of monitor, i think im going for an acer g24. I would like a different psu if possible, as ive not really heard much about that brand.

Edit: sorry for the huge pic, resizing wasnt working for photobucket

Can't help you with the monitor, all I know as far as that goes is the chant "Samsung Samsung Samsung" But I suppose the newer models might not be as good.

PSU wise though I picked up a gigabyte ODIN 800W in the last two weeks and it is fantastic, also comes with controllers for two fans, temp sensors and software control as well as all the usual niceties. I've also owned an Enermax in the past and it's still going strong to this day (must be at least 3 years old) Very reliable PSU.

I would reccomend having a look at your RAM and motherboard combo though, OCZ is known for being a bit funny with ASUS boards, It was with mine, and now I've switched to Corsair which is much better.

But yeah other than that, looks good to me, wish I hadn't heard of this economic recession thing either! ;)

Get a Corsair PSU or the Antec quattro true power 850

As for the ram those issues are only with the nvidia chipset.

But i personally would go for corsair aswell

I'd recommend the 620W corsair PSU, will be more than enough to power that setup, and will save you £50.

Is there any reason your going for the maximus P45 board? You could save a lot and go for the standard Pro P45 board, will work out about £70 cheaper.

I can't really comment on the water cooling, havent done that one yet, but everything else looks good. Again, you could go for the oem version of the Q9550, since you won't need the stock fan, another £15 saved.

i was previously specced that mobo.

whats the main differences between the pro p45? as good at overclocking? what about xfire?

i can get the motherboard for £160 anyway so its not as expensive

also going for the oem as its on this week only for the cpu

is the his 1gb 4870 thats on this week only good?

If you are planning to xfire then get an X48 motherboard.

Check out this website, it shows the differences in crossfire performance between the P35, P45, X38 and X48 motheboards. It shows that the P45 isn't too far behind the performance of the more expensive X48 motherboard.

I'm pretty sure you can hit a high overclock using this board, instead of spending a lot more money on the maximus, also keeping the option for crossfire open.

The HIS 1gb 4870 is a great deal on offer this week.

just ordered the oem q9550, the ocz 1066mhz ram and the his 4870 1gb that is on this week only :)

not sure about the motherboard yet, as i can get the maximus for £160 from work which is a quite good deal.
