I removed all the stickers from my race car today, which has been sitting in the garage for 4 years or so gathering mice and dust. Mice gone, dust removed, new bits added and mechanicals all A1, but after stickers were removed, together with some of the paintwork it really needs a paint.

So I am trying to get a feel for what would be involved and costs for such a job, just ball park. There are a few small areas of rust (nothing major) that I would want sorting and then a rub down and spray. The car also doesn't have a roof and has a full FIA cage, will that case a problem?

Thoughts?

Also, appreciating that I don't need concours quality so no need for people like Shorade, anyone know anyone near Lichfield, Uttoxeter, Stafford who might do a good job for not silly money.

Pictures? Or number of panels that need doing? Colour?

Are you actually expecting us to guess a ball park figure without any of the above?

Could get a cheaper job than that tbh. I don't remember the name but there was a guy doing basic paint jobs for drift cars for £400 or so. Considering an mx5 is tiny and has no roof, a basic sand and blow over should be doable in this price range. Let's be honest it's a race car so only needs to look good from the side line and is going to end up bumped and scuffed anyway.

Kev Sale in Longton (Stoke) fully resprayed my MX5 in June last year for £740.
A good job for the money!

My friend's MX5 had a lot of rust. With new front wings and sills I think it came to around £1300.

Yea it doesn't need anything silly, I just want it tidy and frankly it has had paint before as pulling off the decals today has uncovered a few shades of red, some white and then some black. Just want it red I think, so sand down and blow over should suffice. I did think about OCUK forum blue.....

This bloke has a lockup behind the Wetherspoons in Longton.
There is a huge paint oven in there and a couple of vintage cars.
May as well go for a visit :).

Looking for somewhere a bit closer to be honest. I'm sort of in the middle of Lichfield, Uttoxeter and Stafford, so somewhere in one of those would be my preference as I have to trailer the car there and back.
