Ever since 8th January updates for Vista I have has a strange problem with Vista. Every time i reboot my laptop it gets into a continuous cycle of crashes while loading windows before i get to the login screen. The blue screen of death flashes, then the laptop proceeds to reboot again only for the same thing to happen in a never ending cycle. The only way for me to prevent this from happening is to turn off the laptop, then turn it on again a few seconds later. The same thing happens if i try to boot in safe mode or even booting in last known good configuration. This is very frustrating . Does anyone have an idea of what is happening and how to fix it?

Thanks, Thiras

I had a problem with my Toshiba Laptop running Vista Business, after doing a Windows update it would BSOD, thought to be related to the fact that I was running NOD32 antivirus version 2.

I just used my Toshiba recovery disk to restore the laptop, and then switched Windows update off, and upgraded NOD32 to version 3.

It seems that instability can be introduced by Windows update so my decision was to restore the laptop and then switch updates off - that seemed the best thing to do.

My computer suddenly decided it didn't want to boot yesterday - had the same issue as in the linked thread with the windows loading screen taking ages and then a black screen.
Oddly, I can't boot into my XP install either, so I'm not 100% sure it is the same problem. Have only recently installed Vista so don't have any backups available - will have to reinstall methinks :(

Thanks guys,
I've tried reinstalling Vista but to little or no avail. The laptop is now booting up much slower and doesnt seem quite right. I've just been through and reinstalled everything i had previously.
Im going to have a go at uninstalling that update to see what changes.
Ill keep you updated :)

Fix Found! :D

I opened windows update and looked at the update history, at the top of the update page there is an option to uninstall an update. I scrolled down the list, uninstalled and restarted. Fixed :D

Although bootup is much slower now than it used to be, but thats another issue :(

I can boot fine, the laptop only crashes when i restart rather than shut down, then turn on again. If i turn it off, leave it a minute then turn it on again, it works fine.
