Ok chaps just done a Fresh install of XP Pro but now for some silly reason it likes to log its self off and restart when i leave the machine, this can happen couple of times a day, any idea's

Do you mean that when you come back it has done a reboot?

Or if you sit and watch it it actually logs out then shutsdown cleanly and restarts?

Did you disable automatical restart when it errors?

That's only for serious errors which would otherwise bring up a stop screen afaik, so that wouldn't account for it shutting down nicely and logging off first :)

Good point, time to get another coffee to jumpstart my brain :o

Perhaps a virus?

Could be, wasn't there a worm or something a few years ago which made XP shut down.

wicked88, is your Windows patched up to date? And have you run a virus scan on your system?

LOL, all this talk about Viruses and worms.

What about starting with the basics?

Have you checked the screensaver is not set to 10mins, with password protect on resume? I'm sure this is configured by default on a fresh install. This would require you to login again.

That would not play the logoff and logon music though.
