Hi guys, am having a problem with yet another computer.

It came to me completely dead, wouldnt start at all. I changed the psu first which made no difference, so i changed the motherboard which at least allows it to start up. But now it just keeps restarting, it gets to the windows loading logo (and sometimes not even that far)and then starts again asking if i want to start in safe mode. I've changed the ram which made no difference and am now at a loss. I don't think it's the harddrive as it does get as far as the windows logo. Would a faulty cpu cause this?

Any ideas at all?

Am fairly close to feeding the whole thing to my dog.

Thanks:D

You changed motherboards and have left the operating system as installed on the old (dead) motherboard? If this is the case the system may be restarting due to drivers/chipset driver conflicts.
Changed an old pentium 3 about 6 months ago for another NEAR identical motherboard I had to do a REPAIR install with xp pro as it would restart after xp logo.
If you have no need or wish to keep what is on the hard drive from the previous owner you could try a fresh format & install of windows xp.
