Restore CD contain Windows?

Hi, I am currently building a PC and have been struggling to find my Windows XP disc.

I was wondering whether the Restore CD that came with my original computer contains Windows XP.

The restore CD is for the eMachines 370 (this comp)

As far as I know, it doesn't. It just contains important files, needed to run the OS.

Yes it contains whatever it needs to restore back to how your OS was when you got the PC

So when I first boot my comp into BIOS, I can make it reboot with that cd in and XP will install?

the restore cd is likely to be tied to the spec of your emachine and not work in a pc you are building.

Why not just get an OEM copy of XP, it's not expensive

Indeed. Its either linked to a hidden partition on your emachine which does have the install, or its on the restore CD. Either way its likely to be heavily customised for the emachine and unlikely to work on another.

I have a eMachines 610 (this comp too) and my restore cd is norton ghost with a image on the cd, it just formats the drive and extracts the image onto the hard drive.

Oh, well the only thing that will be left from the original comp is the HDD and CD-ROM Drive.
