Restore to factory settings

IF you try and install windows XP off a CD on to a computer which has a system recovery partition will that stop system recovery program from loading again?

That recovery partition has not been deleted, windows was just installed on the windows partition.

It shouldn't, as long as the partitions have remained the same and the recovery partition has not been touched.

Its an acer laptop and it just refuses to boot to the system recovery.

Hmm, sometimes you can get an image or copy of the data thats needed in the recovery partition. It could be something is missing or corrupted. Worth seeing if you can get anything from Acer to rebuild the recovery partition.
