Restore without pin?

I have a iphone 4 which I want to sell as faulty/repair. Would it be possible for the repairer to restore the phone even thought it has a passcode? Obviously I won't be able to delete all my content if the phone isn't workigng.

You can restore the device even with a passcode by putting it into Recovery Mode and then restoring it through iTunes.

If its on iOS7 you'll need to enter your Apple ID though after its been restored to start the setup process.

Sorry, I mean to format as a new phone (and not restore).

I don't want the new owner to have access to all my data.

Yea its the same process, restoring it will restore it to factory defaults without any data.
