Hello,

I've just done a test on my Win 7 beta (C drive), and that is; I put lots of files, software, internet adaptors. games, etc (about 80 gig), I then Backed it up (maintenance>Backup and restore>) as an "image" (took a long while as it needed to back up my second partition as well (D) - Vista) it was "greyed out, so couldn't deselect it - about 5 hours (450 gigs "ish" for both Vista and Win 7)

Everything went perfectly, and when i came back to my pc, it was as nothing had happened, games working, internet adaptors, everything. Will i be able to back my current files into the full version when i get it? -(diffeerent build etc)

TIA

My IT senses say no.

I'm not sure how the Win 7 backup works. If it is a true image of the partitions the answer is no. If it is a backup of files to an image then you may be able to.

Thanks for reply

Here http://www.dasmirnov.net/blog/backup-massively-improved-in-windows-7, on the first sreeny, it is "create a nimage backup", that saved to my External 750 gig drive, and was prompted to create a "repair-disk" afterwards. I restored my windows 7 from booting off this repair disk (in pre-boot mode),and I selected the drives to restore (there was two, Vista and Win 7) press ok, and that was it really, everything fully rrestored.

Edit: I'm hoping Windows 7 is good enough for me to use it "soley" as these partition's/OS etc take up too much space, and create motre hassle! (not booted Windows XP up since about May on my "Triple" boot Hard drive

Cheers
