The bonnet on my Misses's car has faded badly and needs livening up so considering she can't be bothered with it what's the easiest way to do it?
Is it still a matter of t-cut and elbow grease or is there a better product available, bear in mind that it's her car not mine so the less work involved for me the better;)

You can get stronger stuff, but it involves spending money, so T-Cut 4tw :) Should only take an hour anyway.

A UDM or PC would be the best bet imho. Really brings the shine out of dull paint. But, you then realise the bonnet will be a lot shinier than the rest of the car..so you;ll have to do the lot lol.

T-Cut then some sealing wax, to try and minimise fade and stuff again. :)

Also doing it by hand will be less effort and won't fling t-cut onto all the cars/houses/things near by, unlike some cheap PCs.

t - cut or simliar and some autoglym polish (the names slipped my mind but got a pink label) and some wax to stop you doing it again.

Get some megs applicator pads to make your life easier too.

Neither of those devices will cut back paint by themselves, the cutting compound is the important part, and they can be applied by hand just as well, albeit with significantly more effort.

T-Cut is ok, though I find it very hard work to polish off on badly oxidised paint. Something a bit more aggressive such as Farecla G3 will get the cutting part of the job done more quickly and easily, even by hand.

Rofl :D

Right, quick show of the difference between hand & machine aplication and t-cut/g3. Total time taken on paintwork is about 15 minutes.

Firstly, before, the bonnet has been somewhat neglected.

Now the after, i've left the bottom right corner to give some comparison to the untouched paintwork.

The area in red was done with t-cut, the top part by hand, the lower by machine. Outside the red was with G3.
The yellow lines show where i was rushing with the machine (before it started raining again!)

The finish with the t-cut seems "brighter" than the G3 area due to the fact the G3 is a very abrasive compound and needs finer polishing afterwards.

(don't forget you need to spend at least £100 to get a really cool polisher that will impress your mates. Spending £40 on one from ebay will make people think you have small genitals or common sense.)
