Restoring Iphone Data

I updated to IOS8, however my phone doesnt seem to have loaded my photos back from the backup.

I looked for an earlier backup and there are none from before today (since i updated Itunes), not sure whats happened to all my old backups as i've had the same laptop/windows for about 2 years.

I downloaded something called Dr.Fone from Wondershare, this has found all my old photos but it costs ~£45 to buy the registered version (can't recover files from the trial)

Anyone have any suggestions for a free/cheaper alternative to recover pictures and app data?

I used an app called iExplorer recently to backup messages. It can backup and recover photos too, I believe.

Turns out i'm just an idiot!

It had backed up all my photos and they were on my phone. The difference was that because i never had them grouped into Albums the only ones that show when i click on the Photo Stream are "Recent" photos. Because it's the album view thats now the default view.

If i click on "Photos" it brings everything up!

Yeah, they decided to **** up the camera roll and put it in collections.
