Restoring SteamData directory for Steam?

Hi folks,

How should I restore my data folder for my steam account?

I took a copy of the SteamData folder as suggested in various places but I'm not sure what to do about reinstalling.

Previously I install my putting Half-Life2 on my machine.

Any suggestions/info?

Yep sorry, it must be that. Basically I want to restore my games and stuff.
