Right, please forgive me if I am not 100% awake (it's 2am ) while I try and do this.

I want to disable access to the Internet Explorer Options menu.

I've found sites that point me to the Windows 7 Local Group Policy Editor which gives me the option to disable each of the tabs within Internet Explorer Options.

As far as I can see, this is exactly what I am looking to do BUT is this User Account specific?? If so, how can I do I do it??

I only want to restrict access from my younger brother's account (has a Standard Account) without affecting my Admin account or two other Standard User Accounts (my parents accounts which are passworded so he cannot access them).

Hi-jacking my own thread....

I also want to know how to hide the Adblock Plus menu option under FireFox > Tools??

I've installed Public Fox and passworded the Addon's options (amongst others) but I want to hide the menu option so my brother cannot turn it off.

Can't help you on anything other than Group Policy within Windows.

Open start and type in MMC. From there go to file > Add/Remove snap-in. Add the Group Policy object and then follow the steps through to add it to the appropriate account.

From there you should be able to 'play' around with group policy.

Although I would love to learn if there is any way to disable best part of the settings in google chrome.

Will take a look at this either Friday or over the weekend when I have time. Thanks.

I don't use Chrome on any of our PC's but if I find anything out then I will post a thread here.

To my knowledge you can't do this per-user if you're editing the local policy - its either on or off for everyone.

If that is the case, is there another way of setting things up on a per-user basis?

The PC in question is the family PC and as such I very rarely use it.

If I need to, I can setup the Local Policy and leave it like that until I ever need to carry out any changes (which are likely to be minimal to none once set).

I'm disappointed with the fact that the Standard User account limits access to most settings etc. but so easily leaves a door open to IE Options to be edited by those who shouldn't need to be accessing them.

With Windows 7 (Pro and Enterprise editions at least) you can set local policies on a per user basis.

I've done similar for some locked down stand alone kiosk machines in the past.

I should have mentioned that I am using Windows 7 Professional on the PC that I want to restrict access on.

I stand corrected, it seems they added this in Vista.

I'll see if this matches up on Windows 7 Pro tomorrow.
