Retail or OEM??

The software is the same e.g. Ultimate v Ulimate, Home V Home, but the licence agreement on usage is different.
The main point is with the retail version you can install it as mainy time as you want on your PC, and you can change whatever hardware you want and re-install at any time.
With the OEM, there is a restriction in that once it's installed you in can't re-install it on your PC if you change your motherboard (or change you MB when it's installed) as when it registers with MS it registers details of your hardware.
There's been a number of discussion as to whether MS would actually enforce this as what would happen in the case of someone who has a MB changed due to a defect etc.
Burnsey is the man with all the details of the actual in's and out's of all of this.

The retail version you get a DVD with a few complimentary mints.
The OEM comes on 4,000 floppy disks.
