I was using my mum's PC (till I get my new mobo) and I heard a strange thud from inside the computer. Opened up HWmonitor and noticed the cpu temp had gone up dramatically.
Turns out one of the clips on the retention board for the heatsink had snapped and hence the heatsink fell off! In the meantime I have stuck in my old cooler, as it has 3 clips (the AMD stock only has one on each side), but it is a bit rattly.
Anyone know where I can get an old AMD heatsink retention bracket, or are they specific to each board? Cheers
