We are going to the US for 4 weeks staying in a house which has an internet connected Xbox 360. My son wants to be use his Live account whilst there - what would be the best way to do this? Copy his profile onto a memory card?

Also the Xbox 360 at the rental property is unlikely to have a Live account. Will my son need to purchase a 1 months Live subscription; or is his subscription tied to his profile?

Obviously he will buy a couple of NTSC games at the local gamestore since PAL versions won't work.

Thanks in advance.

He'll be able to retrieve it if he knows his associated mail address and password, he'll have the same amount of subscription left as before.

Just had a thought...couldn't we just take/use our own PAL Xbox 360 and whatever games my lad wants to take. We will be connecting to a 1080p HDTV using HDMI so as far as I am aware the fact that its PAL (as opposed to NTSC) doesn't matter. Might need to get a voltage convertor.

That way we won't have to buy any local NTSC games. The only hassle is carting the thing through the airport in our hand luggage.

Of course you can take your 360 if you really wanted to, same as any other electrical device.

Are you going on holiday? Seems strange to be taking a console on holiday with you.

It's not exactly lightweight or compact though. And finding a voltage converter I'm sure would be a great hassle.

You could take the UK 360 out and simply plug the US 360's power supply into it - it would work without any problems, no need for a step up transformer there.

However a large percentage of 360 games are region free so it's quite possible that at least a decent amount of the UK games will play on a US console just fine. Check the list linked to earlier for some idea.

Also, no need for a memory card unless you really want to - why not just take the hard drive?
