hi there

one of the clients on my network has a set of folders in her outlook inbox for an email used for company export

one of the 'office worker who knows a bit about computers' decided to change the export email on the server to be delivered into his inbox

however this has removed all of the emails from the folders on the first clients machine

is there any way i can get these emails back?

i have tried the pst files and used regedit to make outlook recover deleted files

its great being off for the day only to find some monkey has messed everything up

thanks for any advice

Can you not export them back to worker a's machine?

Setup a public folder to move mails between the 2 boxes?

that was the first thing i tried - it didnt work

what the guy did was right, as in that the export emails come to him now - it has just lost all of the existing emails from the first clients machine.

ps - server has new passwords now  [obv]

shirty group email being composed...;)

I'm confused... is this with Exchange?
Was this "export" folder a folder within her mailbox, or was it a seperate mailbox?
Need mode details of how this was set up in the first place.

this is exchange 2k3

it was a seperate email address '[email protected]' going into '[email protected]'

she had the emails filed in a folder she called 'Export'

when the '[email protected]' address was changed to the new user [he didnt back up the mails on her machine]
the mails dissappeared from her 'Export' folder

From what you describe, there's no way that folders would have disappeared from her mailbox.
Once emails are in a mailbox they don't just disappear if you remove an email alias or a forwarding.

thats what i thought

but the emails are not there

You're sure they were in her primary mailbox, and not in an additional mailbox that was mapped to her Outlook profile?

that might have been the case
the export email address is in her addresses on the active directory so i would assume it all goes into her primary mailbox
