Why does my overclockers ritual now start by checking this thread first, infact reword that my internet ritual im getting hooked. Bit of an update soon got a fair few bits since my last one just in the process of decorating my cave then I can unpack it all.

Im still getting my fix though got a 14" portable setup (like how I remember when I was a kid) in my bedroom with the nes hooked up much to the wifes dismay.

Nice one acharris. Can I ask, is the Neo Geo CD exactly the same as the AES except for the long loading times?

Any advice on how to make it look nicer on an LCDTV?

Some advice when playing retro games get a CRT it's sacrilege to connect them to an LCD. :D

Currently I'm uploading a Youtube video for Dazzerd and trying to buy an original Data East Robocop arcade jammaboard.

Finding myself incredibly bored this bank holiday I recovered my N64 from my parents house, a lot of my games were missing but managed to find:

Resident Evil 2
Goldeneye
Perfect Dark (no expansion pak in the console, gutting)
1 Red but dodgy controller

Shame the picture quality on an LCD TV is awful for the N64.

Ventured into my own loft and dug out my mega drive too and set it all up onto my tv stand. The mrs likes sonic on the mega drive so i've got permission to set it all up like some habitual retro gaming addict :D

Nah not all connected, I have to physically remove the cable and plug in another to play it on my TV.

Don't have any of the boxes for the N64 unfortunately, all thrown away at some point.
Already have Resident Evil 2 for the dreamcast I purchased here on the members market, may consider selling it.

Oh God, the N64 looks bloomin' awful on any LCD bigger than a stamp. Hooked it up to my 40" with the intention of finally playing through OoT and I couldn't bare it :(.

Figured I should post mine, whilst it's out of the loft.

Sadly don't have a CRT to play it on, but we manage (just about) on the LCDs.

Been spending a lot of time on eBay looking at old consoles and games over the past few days. I swear, it's a really good job I have a lot of self-control or I'd be broke by now. :o

I was having a few problems hooking up my N64 to my TV so I googled and read that investing in an NTSC N64 with a S-Video cable (not supported with PAL consoles) gives a better picture quality. The expansion pak is suppose to provide further graphical rendering too apparently?

Not an option for the most of us! Could invest in a CRT, hmm...

Expansion pack only does anything on games that were designed for it.

You can apparently mod a pal n64 for s-video. Don't see the point myself, if you are going to crack one open and mess around inside you may as well just RGB mod it, much better than s-video.

Easier to do a NTSC one, but if you want RGB out of your current pal machine, it can be done.

Results are great :). Although best results are still on a crt, but still better than crappy composite, even if you do have to use on an lcd.

Back in the day I had a PAL N64 and an S-Video cable, no modding or anything like that. Not sure if it was a official or 3rd party cable though but I think probably the latter.

RGB is better but not by much.

I would definitely go with a NTSC N64 any day, a lot of the PAL games suffered from squashed screens and 17.5% slowdown. I think it was only Rare that made any sort of effort with the PAL stuff.

couple pick ups from today not to bad, took a chance on klonoa 2 for £7 with no intructions as i remember hearing good things about it, and the PS1 games were 3 for a £1 at a chartity shop damaged cases and stuff but easily swapped

Hi, sorry I didnt reply sooner, but I was away. yes the CD is the same as the AES except for the loading times, but I like it as I can access the music tracks easily on the CD as they are seperate. But the loads time aint that bad as some say, but then it never going to be as quick as a cart.

As for the quality LCD tv, I suppose you could try getting an RGB lead which I did for it, but then I use it on a 28" Sony CRT which I do all my retro gaming on so I havent really tried it on a LCD sorry. But the games are cheaper to play some titles though, so im not complaining to much lol.

Seeing xbox games reminds me, does anyone have a spare Xbox they'd be willing to sell/donate? I have a version 1.6 Xbox which has a different type of video encoder chip to the older ones and due to this a handful of games don't work in 480p. Namely Jet Set Radio Future and Panzer Dragoon Orta which is pretty damned disappointing :p Anyway I thought I'd ask on here if anyone does :)

Also I'd recommend any Xbox owners here softmod their machines. It's really easy to do now and I've now got a 120GB drive in mine with all of my games copied on it. Bought a component cable and I can now play some games at up to 720p :D

Loft hunt = CUBE :D along with the worlds most expensive scart cable, cost me £70 back in the day, official US/JAP one that uses both multi-outs
