Retro console and games thread

I have soft modded mine, but havent worked out the HDD swap process....arent drives locked to the machine?

Have some Monster Cables Scart for it. games looks brilliant esp. Panzer Orta

Lucky git! I've asked around on eBay and pretty much everyone has a 1.6 one that just gives garbled output on a hanful of games :(

Your Xbox has a unique ID that it password protects your HDD with. On bootup it sends the key to the drive and it unlocks it and sends back a signal saying unlock successful. All you have to do is pluck the key from your Xbox (I think it's a live CD called XboxHDM or something like that) and set the password on your target drive. You can use the same live CD to duplicate your current drive contents across and then create another partition alongside where you can store all of your games.

Was a freebie from a mate too, had a duff DVD drive but another mate had a unit with dead mobo so bodged 1 from the 2 that works :)

shame you dont live closer, would ask you to come and do the hdd fix lol

Haha :p If you look online there are guides to do the HDD swap which are pretty easy. I think I'm just making it sound more complicated than it actually is.

Sorry about that I uploaded through iMovie which must have been set to private. It should work now bud. Cheers for letting me know.

Thanks for the video I may well go this route myself always wanted a play with neo geo.

I supposed the bay is probably the way to go if looking for a MVS board.

Cheers jay.

I had to pick em up from the sorting office as I was in Southport yesterday.

I proper love Neo Geo's......wish i had the space and cash to afford one tbh. as people have said it would be well worth the outlay though

I got offered a SNES last night, debating whether to dabble with it or not, its yellowed but surely that is part of the charm lol

I was having a few problems hooking up my N64 to my TV so I googled and read that investing in an NTSC N64 with a S-Video cable (not supported with PAL consoles) gives a better picture quality. The expansion pak is suppose to provide further graphical rendering too apparently?

Not an option for the most of us! Could invest in a CRT, hmm...

there is a chap in the uk who makes the converted S-Video cables for UK N64's i am just waiting on him finishing the latest batch so i can get one :). apparently puts it up on par with a USA console....or near as you can
