Retro console and games thread

Som nice finds there, I am always In the charity shops now :) . The next things I want to buy is a slim ps2 and I am trying to source a cheap green Xbox the limited edition translucent green

:eek::eek::eek: in a charity shop!!:eek:

Gimmee gimmee gimmee!!! :D

I was surprised and thought I was onto a gold mine when I found one but it turned out to be the only one. The manual inside is sealed with a perforation and has never been opened. The HuCard also looks like it has never been used as there is no sign of ware on the metal contacts. Also has a reference number of 108. Don't know if that actually means anything though.

It should stay looking good as I don't have a PC Engine. Only a Turbografx which is only compatible with North American games.

I still think it's find odd to find a PC Engine title in a charity shop, surely whoever donated it didn't know what it was.

That is a fantastic port of SF2' though, It's crazy how the developers managed to squeeze the whole game onto a tiny hucard.
My only criticism is not even a criticism of the game itself, it's that you need to have a multitap and (ideally) two 6-button controllers to play the game with two players, I will never understand why NEC only installed one controller port in the console :(

The same could be said of any multiplayer PC Engine game though

Received my copy of Panorama Cotton today. For those of you that haven't seen it, check this out. Absolutely mad what they squeezed out of the Mega Drive hardware. Any other rare gems I should source from this seller? :p

I got myself a snes and various games recently, it was the console I didn't have as a kid (megadrive boy), and I remember being about 10 when it was released and constantly being jealous of my mates who had one especially when street fighter was released.

Also never really found playing an emulator good enough that I would play a game right through, but as soon as I picked one up I was hooked on Super Mario World, at the moment its off to a mates getting a switchless mod installed as the 50hz borders are annoying me, will use a converter cart for US games if I get any rather than cutting my cart slot as I think that looks terrible.

At the moment my one problem is so far I have bought everything boxed with instructions including the snes, but only when I can snatch a bargain, really want Secret of Mana, Link to the past and Super Metroid, but the prices they are going for are way more than I am willing to pay, will just have to hope I catch a steal at some point.

The other halves folks are finally upgrading to a HDTV, so will be taking their 32" Daewoo CRT off their hands for my Snes corner.

Will get some picks up once I get the snes back and the TV setup.

Going to go ahead and order an unibios but I'm unsure which one I need. I can see it is the socket type so should be easy to install but the hardware type doesn't match that on the website.

I have a MV1FT board but the options on the site are for MV1F or MV1FZ. I assume I just go for the MV1F unibios?

Picked up these in the week for £2 each.

Forgot that Donkey Kong Land was Super Gameboy Enhanced Game, so it was nice to play it in abit of colour.

Not really retro but whats best place to find thats not ebay for a ps2?

CEX or the members market (or ask any mates if they have one really).

They come under retro now though :p

Also buying a working ps2 is a bit of a nightmare to be honest, slims and silver ones are key here, would try to avoid the old style black ones seeing as my release one died in 2006 and the 3 others I had off ebay before I got the slim each played one type of disc for about 20 mins, those were the days... Anyway most slims should be in decent working order, almost all original style black ones will have had every tweak done to them in the known universe and won't read a disk to save your life and some silver ones should be in good nick but quite a few will (by now) have suffered the same fate as the original black ones.
