Retro console and games thread

this may be a long shot, but does anyone know where I can get a decent N64 controller from?

After looking around, ebay seems to be full of overpriced re-makes of the controller which is appallingly made apparently.

You can get them on Amazon for around £10. May not be the best price but you would (or at least should) be covered by DSR if it turns out to be rubbish.

Is it just me that thinks the N64 was one of, if not the best looking console ever?

Love all the colours it was available in.

It's not just you, I think its the best looking too. Especially all the cool colours, I have the see through japanese blue one and love it. Just how a games machine should look imo.

Wow that is beautiful :P

Pokemon one is ugly as sin though.

I owned that 1 :p

Mine broke and the only replacement people were selling in my area were the pokemon version, I had it for about 2 week before I traded my little cousin it for his black console.

You can't have your mates round and play Golden Eye on that thing.

Quick question if anyone can help? Can using a faulty scart lead on an N64 cause brightness issues?

I bought a new third party scart lead on eBay and im having these issues, could it be a problem with the scart or using the N64 on a newer TV? Any one had any experience of this? Obviously tried changing settings on TV but cant seem to get it anywhere near

Seems the disc drive on my Dreamcast is broked :( . I got a scart cable to try it, and it turns on and displays fine, but trying to run any games and it just keeps coming back saying please insert game disc...huff.

All I know from playing with my neo geo is that yes, the scart lead can play with your brightness, not sure about the N64 though.

Have you tried 1 of those old CD/DVD cleaners on it, could just be some dust on the lens.

I'm going to try to tidy up my Dreamcast...

What would you suggest for getting rid of all the dirt? It genuinely seems to be dirt / stain rather than the plastic going funny in the sun...

Just picked this up today brand new and sealed for £13.50 from argos, think i will keep it sealed and buy another copy to play off ebay :-)

Can't believe you picked that up from Argos!! Excellent find. Keep it sealed, it's gonna be worth something no doubt esp with that awesome pad. Never gave the game a chance when it came out but will deff come back to it as it gets such good reviews.
