Retro console and games thread

Love the sig volente, can I ask how you designed it?
Don't suppose you could do one for me with a few games if I told you what they were? :D

ImMrChris made it for me in The one and only signature creation thread :o

You could look into getting one of the PC Engine Duo consoles, don't think they are cheap though.

On another note, Im getting the retro itch once again... Ive had my eye on getting a MegaCD....

Also, always fancied a PCEngine...

Any other recommendations folks? :)

Yeah the PC Engine would be cool I'd love to get one but if you want to play the CD games then from what I have read the only real reliable option is the Duo R or Duo RX and both cost 250-350 quid :( I'm looking to get a consolised Neo Geo MVS system in a few months time myself, probably the Omega CMVS from Arcade Works. Might also be worth a look if you are into SNK games.

AH sorry I meant to say PC Engine handheld :p
But the PC Engine console would be also cool.

But either are pretty pricey tbh :\

How comes a consolied version of the Neo Geo MVS may I ask? Cheaper games?

E: This????

I didn't realise they made plastic moulding for consolised MVS! Is this so?

Yeah the MVS games tend to be a lot cheaper, for example Metal Slug is about 40 quid on the MVS and hundreds of pounds + for the AES home console version. AES games are just fetching crazy prices, hundreds if not over a thousand for a single game. Plus I like arcade games so it nice to have the real arcade hardware and game boards. The Omega is a fully pro made consolised MVS using the very last MV1C single slot board that SNK released in 1999. Its a smart bit of kit and I can't wait to get one, playing the real deal in my living room would be too cool. I grew up with a lot of these games in the 90s :)

Ah so you are after the PC Engine Express handheld, cool. Its the same hardware as the console and takes the same hu cards, heard they can be a bit unreliable though and keeping one in working order can be a pain. Cool system though!

Ah sweet! So the Omega is literally all the MVS gubbins ready to plug into a TV?
(What AV interface does it use?)

Also regarding the PCEngine, youre spot on. They are a pain since not reliable!

The Omega has RGB SCART or Component, I'd get a scaler myself and hook it up to my SLG3000 scan line generator. Lots of people on the Neo Geo.com forums praise the machine. Another console I'd love is a Japanese Megadrive and eventually Mega CD, something about the Jap ones just seem cooler than the Euro PAL versions

Just went and picked these 2 PVM's up. £20 for the pair. Absolute steal. Ones 14" and the other is 20". The 20" weighs a ton! been after one for a while now and i score 2 at once lol.

The 20" has a property of eidos sticker on hahahaha.

My miggy 4000 :)

Unfortunately I going to have to let her go :( I have other plans :D

Just picked up this box of fun. Has 512 classic arcade games and the guy who made it does this as a full time job!

Perfect for when I don't have time to get stuck in to a game. Please excuse the terrible photo's. For reference, it's a 15" screen.

yeah thanks to you im £400 poorer....

pics to come in a few weeks...

Just picked this lot up from a charity shop walked in at just the right time as she was putting them out, not sure if I paid too much but I liked the look of some of the games and they are all complete and in good condition and helps boost my mega drive collection, paid £27 for this lot most I've spent in a charity shop

Hellfire is awesome, not so keen on Sonic 3 or Revenge of Shinobi myself, never played the other two...

Here's a Megadrive I acquired about 3 years ago, an Asian PAL one.

Thought I may as well join in the console pic thread. Got an original Gameboy somewhere and 2x Megadrive 2s...

Expensive charity shop!. Was it in Oxford or something?

lol nah was a British heart foundation shop near Newcastle, guessing someone was checking prices online but had no idea on what was what as the common games were expensive while the rarer games were cheap like truxton for £4 while strider was like £15

But been trying to set my megadrive up to play them and i cant get it to tune into my tele!! anyone help

In all fairness they are all great titles you picked up and they look in really nice condition. Wouldn't of said overly expensive, and the money went to charity. Win win.

I remember Hellfire being hard as hell back in the day, shame it wasn't co-op like the arcade version. :(

Still there's some great games there.
