Retro console and games thread

Parents have been asking me to empty out all the old boxes still cluttering up their place. One of them was marked:

There's a boxed SNES underneath all that. Unfortunately most of the SNES games seem to have gone missing. Including SFII and Super Mario Kart.

Curious to see if it still worked:

Still works ! :D

Tremendous!

Street Racer on the SNES in that box of games aswell, I loved that.

Just out of interest are their any good home brews for the ps1/2? It's amazing how people are still making games for the megadrive and dreamcast but choice to ignore two consoles that sold over 100 million each.

Yeah I am also unsure whether you can run the jap version on uk console. The included ram cart actually contains portion of game to drop load times so cant use action replay cart like xmen vs street fighter :(

Unlikely I reckon, I expect you'll need to buy a region mod chip from the chap who sells them on the assemblergames forum or just get it modded by http://www.videogameperfection.com/ for £25.

I'm not sure I'd even want to play it at 50Hz or on a modded console anyway, I prefer using the proper NTSC spec machines so there's no stutter (unless you're running CRT of course then it's not a problem).

The box is amazing! Shame I know that all of my retro is in my own loft lol

So....today is megadrive 2 60hz day. I cant solder for toffee so a friend is doing that bit for me at lunch. RGB Scart ordered for delivery tomorrow too. Should be good :)

The boxed Mario: 6 Golden Coins and Links Awakening for GB look mint (and gave me a boner). Dont ask why, just a weird fetish thing i have going on for Gameboy games since getting GB player for Gamecube.

I'll try and check. It's around 36". Is that considered small these days?
Maybe the lunchbox is just bigger than you remember.:D

The GB boxes looked to be in good nick. The NES ones are generally quite tatty though.
I was going to see if the zapper still worked and then found that I didn't have any zapper games in the box.:o No idea what happened to Gumshoe and Hogans Alley.
Probably traded them for conkers or Fighting Fantasy books or something daft. (I found 20-30 FF books in another box. Anyone else have a shelf full of neon green spines?)

Funstock has the neo geo x for £99.99 this week, never used them before and I only hear bad things about the neo geo x but it may still be intrest I g to so e people :)

That's a bargain, I reckon they might become collectable in a few years. Funstock are good, I've ordered from them before. Think there is a 15% off voucher out there atm too!

Can anyone help me. I want to buy NiGHTS for my Saturn, but I can't work out whether the Christmas version is actually the full game?

Or does the full game contain the Christmas version just activated around Christmas time?

thanks in advance if anyone can help

christmas ninghts was literally just a demo that came on the front of a magazine from what I know mate

features 2 christmas orientated levels.

Well I finally have it, a consolised Neo Geo MVS, the Omega! Created by Quan at Arcade Works in the states, it contains the 1999 MV-1C SNK 1-slot motherboard, stereo sound mod, NEO BIOS MASTA and Unibios 3.2.

I have been after one for about 2 years and finally pulled the trigger about a month ago. The multicart is nice to sample the games and have something to blast on while I save the pennies to buy my favourites. I have been playing this all night and haven't had this much fun gaming in years.

Stein, are you looking to buy a full boxed version for collection as well as playing purposes or just want a copy as cheap as possible to play?

The reason I ask is I have a spare disc only copy, I don't mind sending it to someone for free if they are genuinely looking for some retro enjoyment.
