Retro console and games thread

I'm a forum lurker but somehow this thread has slipped past me all of this time!

I'm a big Saturn fan and even though I dip in and out of collecting crazes I always come back. This year I managed to pick up a mint condition Bang & Olufsen MX4000 CRT for the fine price of £0 - a company had it stored and was throwing it out. The downside was the remote which was knackered - remedied in half an hour with contact cleaner and resoldering a few points on the board!

Not my photo but it's a lovely TV and I'm currently playing Panzer Dragoon Saga on it.

Well I've dusted off my DS9 DVDs recently (yes I'm a geek ok) and since I'm also playing a bit of SNES as well I thought what the hell :) Long live the 90s! The cart manual and poster look nearly unused but the box is a little bit worn, overall not bad since its 20 years old!

I'm maybe an hour away from finishing Chrono Trigger (flipping awesome) but here are my favourite SNES games (All A1 mint condition by the way ;))

And another prized possession:

I've also got some really funky gadgetry on the way to get scanlines on my LCD when playing the SNES or PS1 - looks sooooooo much better :)

If you like JRPGs matey it's pretty much as good as it gets :)

The DS version is a LOT cheaper btw, but it's something I'm proud to own on SNES...

I remember playing that ant game round my friends. Had no idea what to do and never managed to kill an Ant. If I recall it went into a FPS mode and you had to shoot off the antennas. There was also a minigame where you had to escape from a hospital.

Its going to be my next snes purchase, I have been after it for years and I've decided to pull the trigger soon, too bad I waited so long as it costs a fortune these days :( I have completed it on other platforms and via an emulator but never on the real hardware, something I really want to remedy as its my number 1 all time favourite game.

Just pop to Cash Convertors in Lincoln. Nice little retro section, so I though a few bargains could be had here. I was wrong, N64, Sega Saturn, £50. Old monochrome gameboys £30, PS One,£25(paid £5 for mine in Worcester 2 years ago) none were boxed.

Costing way more that eBay, looks like they are getting greedy now.

We have a CEX and a Cash Converters where we live and I'm totally confused as to our they make any money! seems allot of they sell can be had new for cheaper and hardly ever see anyone buying stuff buy always some selling something to them

What's a boxed good condition Playstation One worth these days? (original version)

A friend is getting rid and I'm not sure from looking at the bay, it has the manuals etc but I can only guess around £40 and I don't know if that is too high/low.

£40 seems a bit too much considering my local independant shop has them for around £10-15 unboxed.

Perhaps £20-30 is more suitable depending on condition and model number.

This is what I've paid for my playstations in the past, just some idea of prices of playstations now a days.

Just modded playstation for import games, nothing else £4 from a carboot

Audiophile playstation gen 1, modded for import games boxed/manual/few games/controllers/boxed memory cart/Cables ~40 from ebay

PSone, with official LCD screen controllers, memory card, PSU ~60 from ebay

Just Playstation gen 8, nothing else £2 from carboot. (I've picked this up for spare parts)

Yeah I have four playstations.

If no one has a PSP yet, I would recommend picking one up, they dirt cheap and so are the games and its possible to do amazing things with them. :)
