Retro console and games thread

OH rang me at work yesterday telling me that a friend of hers saw that I had a few old consoles so brought me around a "handful" of old games that would gave gone in bin!!!

Got home to this.

Its a beautiful thing when stuff like this happens :D

After one house move and a load of building work I can now have my consoles back out.

I've just had an scart to hdmi upscaler delivered so things should look a lot better on my lcd tv.

Finished doing the artwork on my SNES games this week.

On a different notes, does anyone read Retro Gamer magazine?
Just looks like it'll be good reading for the train/toilet. :p

Took the kids over to my folks today and had a quick look through some old bits in my room. Came across -

A few mvs games -

My old d-lite made pistol supergun -

And my baby, one day the wife will let me bring it home -

Couldn't find the keys for it but pretty sure there is a CPS3 setup in there with SF3.

Also found my old 4 slot and 1 slot MVS.

This thread makes me feel sad my Mega Drive, Ps One, Gamecube and dreamcast are in the loft.

I went on a spree getting some resi games for gamecube a couple of years ago, was excited to play Resident evil 1 remake, but had a lot of motion blur on my lcd tv, odd as resi 4 was fine.

It kind of put me off collecting if I cannot play them.

However was at a market yesterday and seen Adidas Power Soccer for PSone made me want to start collecting again.

Adidas Power Soccer was insane, if I remember correctly you could press Square, Triangle and Circle and your player did some sort of Karate kick to head height!

Hah, I have fond memories of it, from kick off if you ran and timed it right and took a shot, the ball would bounce just in front of the keeper then go over his head!

That is super, gronbek. :D

Well since CRT TV's go for nothing these days, you could probably pick up a nice Bang & Olufsen. :D We used to have one, a "flat" CRT, one of the first widescreens I think, the remote control was made out of a block of metal, you could do some serious damage with it. But it was a great set. :)

Otherwise as others have said, something more "mainstream" like a Trinitron, those things seem to live forever. You could probably use an old CRT PC monitor and some adapters, as an alternative. :)

Remember B&O didn't make the CRT tube it was a just a brought in tech from an aperture grille manufacturer ( I can't remember who they used).

The only thing which may set them above others is some of the later models did have a lot of useful picture setting options that the more mainstream TVs don't tend to have.

Actual picture quality isn't any better than a good Sony though.

If money is no option and you aren't an apple/B&O looks above performance fanboy, the best CRT you can buy is a Sony Broadcast CRT Monitor. They are bulky, casing won't look that nice, but the picture is the best. Expect to pay a lot, if you can find one. :D

Hhhhgnnnnnn Egret 2! I'd love one of those if i had the space. Wrong orientation though with that Screen :-D hahahaha. I'd have Battle Garregga in that... oh the Dream!

This Ikea cube became spare this week and i've been looking for something to sit the PVM on. Fits perfect. I've got some casters sitting around somewhere so i'm gonna fix them to the bottom so i can wheel it about when i need to put it away. Will add another shelf on the bottom so i can have 2 consoles set up at once and attach a 4 plug power cord.
