Retro console and games thread

Demz be punz init!

Yeah I am so chuffed with the b&o. Remote is bit bashed apparently but it works and my logitech harmony has it available as programmable source so all good regardless :)

Nintendo points, where's the cheapest place to buy them?
I don't know If I can get discount of them, but I can get them from work (supermarket)
but they are 1700 points for £15, just fired up the wii, and its cheaper on the wii, 3000 points for £21

Cdkeys.com maybe?

Picked up a Mega Drive yesterday, No cables but had the controller, I was gonna have to get an RGB Scart from RetroGamingCables anyway, so It's just sourcing a cheap enough PSU, Anyone know any good sites?

Which Mega Drive?

The AC mains adapters for the model 2 is different to the model 1.

I think I might have a spare megadrive 2 one in my desk at work.....

ordered one from china and 5 weeks later hadn't arrived so ordered uk one....they both came on same day :(

PAL Gamecube scart and PAL SNES scart although the same connector (same as N64 too) are slightly different internally. The SNES needs 75ohm resistors to ground on the RGB lines, the gamecube needs 220uF capacitors. Using a PAL gamecube scart on a PAL SNES will probably result in a fairly dark image. Diagrams below to show what I mean.

Strangely, the NTSC SNES uses a closer RGB scart configuration to a PAL gamecube while the NTSC gamecube can't output RGB as standard. Nintendo logic.

Whatever you do, don't get one of these generic 'SNES/Gamecube/N64 RGB scart' £3-5 cables from ebay/amazon. Get a decent one from retrogamingcables or retro gaming shack - they're both good and reasonably priced.

I've just captured these. The first is using a PAL SNES RGB scart (sync on luma) from retrogamingcables. The second is using a cheapo/unbranded gamecube scart advertised as SNES/GC/N64 compatible.
Both captured on a crappy scart > hdmi scaler, so the quality isn't fantastic but it was the quickest way to grab a screenshot.
