Retro console and games thread

Something has got me wanting to get a coloured gamecube

Just been looking at spice and platinum ones on ebay....The white is pretty tasty too!

The 3 button ones go for £15-20, the 6 button ones are around the £35-40 mark. Those are auctions not stupidly high buy it now's that never sell.

I doubt the box is small enough to qualify as a Royal Mail small packet, so you'd be looking at around £5 to post using Hermes or Collect+

Don't forget eBay fees are 10% of the total value of the sale, including postage. PayPal is around 3% of the total amount plus 20p per transaction.

Need a little advice guys...

I've got an itch to play both Final Fantasy XII (PS2) and Final Fantasy Tactics (PS1). I appreciate we never got Tactics in the UK, and similarly I think our version of XII was the 50hz variant.

What's the best way to tackle this, order a PS2 console from the States and buy a step down converter (if it needs it)?

There's a few various other games I'd like to play that are of the NTSC variety and wondered if anyone else had done this.

Doesn't account postage costs and fees. Yuh might get a bit more on some items depending on boxed or condition. Or any games that might be bundled.

NES joystick just arrived safe and sound and the added greatness enclosed has made me a VERY happy man

Snake Rattle and Roll is a game I currently have 3 auction watches on! one of my favourite nes games of all time. Thank you so much
 
No problem. Glad it will see some use.

It was languishing in a draw as the only NES item I had other than that joystick.

Plus it's part of the Rare Replay package I have so I'd never play it anyway. So it needed a new home.

Thought it was a tour de force of nes hardware and quite rare?

It's a Dutch version but not the country specific language one. Learnt stuff about that today too :)

Great game! One of my favourite on the NES and a technical show case for the NES.
 
Just debating whether to fork out for nes or get a retron now....bit of me feels a bit dirty not getting the real thing. But been bitten twice with bad nes' :(

Doesn't the Retron use the ROM on the cart and just emulate it? I suppose you have the advantage of being able to use the original controllers either way and if you're using an LCD TV then it's HDMI plug and play.
 
Make sure copy and paste the entire link, I seem to remember when I first copied the link shown in the box it wasn't all of it, I had to scroll up to get to the start of the link. On my phone it shows all of the link, but I think on my PC there was a small scroll bar. Also make sure you pick the forum code rather than html.

cee-S-dee posted a picture of a reproduction Slap Fight MD a while back. Basically someone uses an EEPROM to produce the cartridge and reprints the the label and cover art in one nice package. Plays on the original hardware and looks the part on the shelf.
