Retro console and games thread

I bought JoJo's from eBay.

I bought Dragons Crown direct from NIS America's EU store, because I wanted the art book too. It wasn't cheap at £20.48 with delivery, but it was still cheaper than anywhere else for the game and the book.

Err...

Anybody know how to open standard shaped Famicom carts? There are no screws like you would find on most cart games.

Had a slight beer accident in the week :o

Grab yourself a console repair kit from eBay.

It'll be ok, will give that other method a go first.

It is just a few carts that came with my console when i imported it from japan a while back. Unfortunately the 2 dogbone controllers and the psu i bought to replace the jap one took a bit of a bath also. The 2 dogbones should be ok but i will open em up to check and i reckon the psu should be ok (will try it on my md1 before hand though, prefer that to blow up than my famicom av).

The carts are pretty bad condition and very grubby but nothing special so should be cheap to replace if i think it necessary, tbh only a couple of em i would replace anyway. I had left everything in the box they shipped in as i meant to clean em up and have been toe bunting it around my room when it's been in my way and it found a home on the floor infront of my bedside table. Luckily the console itself was in the top of my wardrobe as i knocked nearly a full pint off while i was in bed on the ipad, 90% of which landed in the box.

@Deo_volente

Here's a pic of a cart i opened dude. There are 4 tabs which you need to 'unlock'. I used a bread knife but if you can get a strong plectrum of something will be much better. Be careful, they are very brittle and can snap easily!

Cheers, like i said it's just the 4 grubby carts that came with the console, one of which the plastic is broken by the edge connector anyway. Unfortunately one is the original mario bros :( which,whilst very dirty, i was really enjoying so i hope that one is ok atleast.

Visited my parents today and had to pop up into their loft, whilst up there I found the box (and all paperwork) for my original Gameboy, which I still have.

What impressed me most is that it still included the original receipt which I believe shows I managed to get it a week earlier than the official launch date.
