I'm starting to have the itch to buy a new system. I'm really trying to tell myself no more just get a few more games for what I have and call it a day but I fancy some more hardware in my relatively small collection. I sold all my PAL stuff off (excluding the Dreamcast as it supports 60hz/VGA) but fancy getting an NTSC NES/ Japanese AV Famicom since I miss my old PAL NES a little and or a Japanese Saturn. I never had one back in the day but always wanted one for Panzer Dragoon and X-Men Children of the Atom but was bought a PlayStation for my birthday instead by my parents, maybe that was a good thing at the time as it came with Resident Evil 1
Here is what I have so far:
SNES Mini (NTSC US) with RGB AMP Mod
Mega Drive Model 1 with good sound (NTSC Japanese)
PS One (NTSC US)
Dreamcast (PAL)
"Consolised" Neo Geo MVS (Omega CMVS) - I love this one so much!
Thinking to get:
AV Famicom (NTSC Japanese) with either RGB/ HDMI mod or the AVS NES Famicom FPGA system that just came out from RetroUSB.
White Japanese Sega Saturn so I can play a lot of the fighting games and arcade ports from the 90s.
Mega CD - I can't decide on this, I really fancy some Sonic CD and Final Fight CD but getting a Jap Model 1 Mega CD costs a fortune, plus they are very unreliable and would probably need a full service/repair. The model 2 is attainable and more realiable but it doesn't go well with the original Mega Drive and becomes a long beast indeed.
What do you reckon guys, quit while I'm ahead as it were or take the plunge on one? I guess I'd love all three but space and funds are limited. Regarding the NES I'd just get an everdrive and the odd game rather than build a collection for it, I just want to play the games on real hardware.
