Retro console and games thread

Bargain.

As for the Spectrum. I think the old school computers are the one thing I think I'd rather emulate. No loading times and not having to play with a keyboard.

I had a Texas Instruments TI994A in the mid 80's and it's the only system I don't have any nostalgia for.

What no PARSEC?

It may also be possible to add more games via the USB port and some kind of web update. I don't see why they'd use a USB port just to supply power. I'm guessing USB requires a licence fee, so why include it if they didn't at least want the option to use it for data?

There's only a fee if it carries data, and a USB power supply make selling it in many countries a lot easier.

Plus people can power the system directly from their TV or another console instead of taking up a plug socket.

Parents couldn't afford any cartridge based games, although I did manage to borrow it for a while. Decent game from what I remember. Speech synthesiser compatible if you were mega rich. :D

They did buy me the Extended BASIC cartridge though. I don't remember having many games for it at all.

It wasn't a well supported machine and so non of the shops stocked software. All of my games were bought mail order and so I didn't have that many. I actually used it to teach myself BASIC more than anything else.

Makes sense if it's power only.

Not that you can buy it anywhere at the minute. And they might not be too keen to produce anymore now it's been hacked.

We shall see.
