Retro console and games thread

Traded in GTA V for Xbox One and some 360 games, came home with this! After a little spend on the PS1 games! Very very happy :D

Tommi Makkinen Rally
V2000
No Fear Downhill Mountain Biking
Motorcross Mania
Castrol Honda VTR
Castrol Honda Superbike Racing
Full Auto 2 Battlelines
Oblivion GOTY Edition
Ridge Racer 7
Ichi the Killer
Naked Gun Trillogy
Tokyo Extreme Racer.

£22 left in credit not counting the cost of the PS1 games, £22 for my stepdad to have his haul.

CEX can have some reasonable deals, I keep an eye on the PS3 section for games that I missed out on during "the day". A pro tip to remove those horrible labels: use a hair dryer on them and they lift right up with no marks to the cases ;)

I walked past the Nottingham branch of CEX (the first one, not Vic centre) a few weeks ago and they have a little advert in their window saying theyre very happy to take donations of retro stuff. I nearly threw up on the pavement!
No mention of it going towards a good cause or charity etc, just attempting to make money from peoples freebies, it was disgusting.

Added a NES & Gameboy Advance to the collection now and run out of room.

Built this for my Retro gaming nights with my mates - was fed up with "carting" hehe - boxes of cables about.

Raspberry Pi 3 running Retro pie
Ikea Lack table
2 x USB Joysticks
USB Keyboard and fake PS3 USB pad
Running off an Anker battery pack - so just a HDMI needed. Got about 10 hours off the last charge

Let the kids have the Sharpies for a little Retro colouring :)

Managed to get the multitap support working on the SNES emulator - 3 player Bomberman was epic.

Im very much liking that and may steal your deisgn lmao
Will be awesome for gaming with the nephews

What sticks and buttons did you use?

So wheres good for selling other than eBay?

My LE Zelda Gamcube and both zelda games have been boxed up for many moons and not touched.

Woudl rather someone got some use of them

haha - no worries. Its had some fair use by me and the kids.

I'll trust you a link to the joysticks. I got them from that auction site - cheap as chips but had to wait an age for them. I paid abut £23 for two sets - thats half he price you could pay in the UK.

Really enjoyed building it but getting the holes cut for the buttons was a nightmare.

It'll mainly get used on our boys retro gaming nights - certainly a worthy little project

Finally got round to setting up my Pi with retro Pie, however many games even NES and SNES games sem to run slow.

It is the original version I have. Will I need to get the 2 or 3?

I cant comment on performance on pi1 but from what i have played pi3 seems to work really well for it that i can tell. Not played too much of it yet

My Pi 1 was really laggy. There is an option to overclock it in the menu but I'd recommend the 3 tbh. The inbuilt BT and wifi means you don't have to sacrifice USB ports or use a hub.

Picked up an Acer Aspire XC 603 this week with the intention of using it as an emu box.

Currently experimenting with Retroarch and Launchbox.

And this arrived in the post from Japan this morning. Cost just £8.20 delivered via Amazon Market Place and only took two weeks to arrive. Looks brand new to me.

Apart from R Type Tactics on the PSP, my R Type collection is complete after this arrived today. Another eBay purchase but managed to win it for £35 so a decent price compared to buy it now and other sold listings.

Not sure I'd get the original R Type on the TG16 is I ever get another one. Since I have it on Master System and PS1 anyway.

Since I don't have the money, room or interest in collecting complete console game sets. I tend to focus on smaller more achievable goals, like a game series or subsets of games.

I recently completed collecting/buying all the HD remakes and remasters that came out in Europe for the PS3 (pictures on request) not retro as such but some older style games.

As well as R Type, I'm also collecting games in the Thunder Force series and the Aleste/Zanac series.

I just need Thunder Force VI for PS2 to finish that set, but I want to pay less than £30 for it. Ideally less than £25, but the exchange rate seems to be keeping prices slightly above what I want pay. UK sellers want silly money.

I don't think I'll ever pull the trigger on MUSHA, not at over £300 for the boxed Genesis version. I'll stick to my reproduction. Maybe the Japanese version one day.

I have been hovering over the buy button on Zanac X Zanac for the PlayStation though, but at just under £90 it's a lot to spend on one game.
