Retro console and games thread

Just listed a load of stuff in the MM.

A sad day, but needs must.

Spot on barry... er I mean barmy! (Sorry about that earlier :D)

You are doing the right thing fella, honestly speaking I will be offloading my retro collection later also...

In other news... spring clean unveiled these... retro?

No worries.

i sort of dont want to look, ya know, out of respect.

Don't worry about it, I'd rather sell on here than some of the pillocks on Shpock or Gumtree.

Got my kit set up in the old nursery room, it fits really nicely in the alcove there, that's just to the right as you go in

Had to step out the room to get it all in!

Luckily I don't have a big collection :D can make use of the shelves hopefully.

Will probably put the shelf unit on the other side of the window so I can sit head on to the tv. Need a proper chair too, would make sense to get a small sofa bed but honestly doubt there's room. They really shouldn't call these new builds 3 bedroom, it's not really suitable imo

My room is 8ft square and you know how much stuff I squeezed in.

Argos sell baby book shelves, which are great for game storage without encroaching into the room too much. They are very narrow, but you can get around 130 DVD size cases in them or around 66 Mega Drive clam shells. £15 each. Can't remember if they do different colours.

thanks. i am fairly certain that unit i have is argos. very top heavy i should have secured it to the wall. might do this time

:) hey the post just came, thanks so much!

No. You get what you get.

Upside is if you're not happy you can take it back into any shop for refund. And if the shop has the game on the shelf and it's acceptable the they will exchange no messing.

I'm a bit surprised not to have had any activity regarding sales on my MM sale thread.

Ah well, some items sold on eBay.

Ahh ok no worries! Will see what happens

Sorry to hear that, I did skim through it and it's all well priced imo. I would snap up some gamecube stuff if timing was right but unfortunately can't spend much at the mo :D

eBay may get you the better prices I guess, less the fees of course

I think I'm below eBay prices on everything. I'm sure any potential buyer would tell me if I wasn't. Equally I'm not in a position to sell on at a "loss" but I try to be competitive, even on eBay.

Sold Power Strike yesterday for £45 plus £2.70 postage, which is cost price. After fees and shipping I clear £38.43

I listed it for £40 delivered in the MM so would clear £37.30, assuming asking price was paid.

So not much in it.

But Power Strike sold within a few hours of being listed so my price was good for eBay anyway.

Prices are spot on imo, unfortunately it's a bit of a waiting game as with selling anything I guess!

I'll have another glance over it at pay day, as I said some GC titles are needed :)

Ordered a few ps2 games from cex pretty much £10 for the lot, I even had an old voucher which covered the postage I went with

Cold Winter
Gungriffon Blaze
Killswitch
Primal
The Red Star
Shadow of Rome
SSX3 (never played one, metal jesus' favourite ps2 game)
The Suffering
The Thing

Not bad considering, never played any of these either

Let's hope you get complete games in decent condition.

I think I've got all of those except The Thing.

I believe Kill Switch is where Gears of War got some inspiration from.

fingers crossed buddy, worst comes to worst i have sopme fifa games that came with my bundle, will use those cases if the cex ones are covered in poo!

the thing popped up on a few youtube lists as an overlooked game and apparently one of the better licensed games

im going slightly off topic here

What do you guys use to clean your old carts and machines ?

looking at getting a bottle of Isopropyl but maplin only do a spray bottle which i don't want
so looked Flbay/mazon and im getting confused, im seeing 70% Isopropyl and 30% distilled water
or
Isopronal @ 99% ?

can somebody link me to what they buy please so i can order one

thanks

I use Brasso to clean cartridge contacts.

If your going to use alcohol then it's the 99% stuff you want.

Funny enough I think Metal Jesus Rocks did a video on this a few weeks back.

thanks Barmyllama

Right, new purchase Today

GTA 3 for PS2, inc manual and map for £1 ! :D

Nice! GTA 3 came with my console bundle I got last week and it too is complete. I had a quick go over the weekend, holds up surprisingly well except a rather low frame rate and the roads feeling a bit empty!

Didn't matter at the time (or now) such an influential game
