Retro console and games thread

Fao: anyone who's ordered some to sell - you're all knobs. Profiteering off childhood nostalgia.

Blame the companies that allow customers to order more than one.

And I'm thankful we live in a world where it is possible to profiteer from anything you want, it doesn't make them knobs, they're just making money.

Looks like I'll have to wait. Bummer.

Same boat as me, I'll wait for it to get to the point the NES is at now where prices went so high and then came back down to reasonable-ish levels (boxed NES Mini went for £80 on ebay earlier, not amazing but much better than £150 odd lol)

Supposedly loads more SNES Mini's being made than NES though so maybe more supply will show up at some point

The aim of (almost) every person and or company is to make a living or profit, and in the capitalist world we live in, it's just the way it is.

People are up in arms when it happens to an industry their heart is close to. But they're just goods, it's just a commodity. It just happens to be something - the likes of people in this thread - have a personal attachment to.

If it makes then knobs, then everyone is a knob.

Do you work for free?

Those who have bought a few because of friends or family that's cool, of course (I bought a NES for me and one for my brother, last time).

Totally agree, f these people

Game was down for me around 10pm last night, woke up at 1am and decided to try, got through and then it crashed when i went to pay, game is now sold out

i manage to get a Mini Nes from the official store in the and im sure i'll get one of these at some point

I really wanted a SNES mini but can't believe they're sold out already :(

There are loads of unsold NES minis on ebay where people are still asking silly money for them.

Remember when everyone was after Sony VR? Love nor money could get them, but an indy store I knew had 3 for sale. I got one for myself, knew full well I could doubled my money on the bay with the other two, but it wouldn't have sat well with me. Each to their own, but we get a choice how we make money.

I was excited to see the games releasing with the snes and was having some moments of nostalgia then thought about it a bit and decided that I don't really want one. I just wouldn't play the games no matter how fantastic they were at the time. Cool for some but not so much for me.

The thing I love about this, the SNES just looks so cool.
I would go out on a limb here and say that the SNES controller is probably the best controller ever made in history.
The colours on this thing are just gorgeous :)
And the SNES itself... looks so good :) And palmsized? Epic win :)

I love the look of this little unit and would buy one with no hesitation. But again there is not enough to go round. i hope there is a second batch due shortly after release and the profiteers get screwed. To be honest, by not having significant supply will lead quite a few people to buy a PI and download the roms therefore losing Nintendo money. While i understand there is a little setting up and its not legal i am sure there will be people that would want to revisit the nostalgia but get more for their money with a PI than one of the SNES minis with 21 Games on, that they cant buy because they did not make enough.

Very nearly pre-ordered last night, sounds like I don't have a second chance anymore. It just looks so cool and the games list contains some great choices. I have a Raspberry Pi though as well as an original SNES with a lot of the games featured so couldn't justify it. I think if I was able to get the nes mini too I would have as they'd look great side by side on display :)
Really in the mood now to play some Castlevania! :D

Doh missed those two, both seem to be gone again.

Hopefully something else will come up, or the people buying speculatively will have a nasty shock when there's enough produced for the demand :p

Will be very interesting to see what version of Starfox 2 will be on this. Has parental to be a version which has never been dumped. If thats the case then that alone the Snes classic will be worth it over a Pi with loads of Snes roms.

What I find crazy about the NES is that they were in plentiful supply all the way up to release, so why didn't the people willing to spend £150 on a £49.99 machine pre-order one?!
