Retro console and games thread

Cavallino tell us honestly how much you paid no fibs :p you didnt bag them cheap :D

Oh I wont tell any fibs but before I do, would you please guess how much I paid for these? (Im curious to see how much a price you would put on these).

I have to say they are mint/near mint pristine condition.

:p

£20 for the PAL DC
£30 for the NTSC
£200 for the Panny Gamecube
£250 for the Super Famicom jr
£70 for the Super Famicom

Am i close or totally off the mark lol

BLIMEY err... you serious? the DCs for that cheap?!

Lets put it this way. You're certainly totally off the mark in terms of the division of the prices for the consoles....

Hmm actually come to think of it...

Ok give you a clue:

£20 for the PAL DC - HIGHER
£30 for the NTSC - HIGHER
£200 for the Panny Gamecube - DEBATABLE :D
£250 for the Super Famicom jr - LOWER
£70 for the Super Famicom - HIGHER

Not sure if there was a "debatable" on Bruces 'Play Your Cards Right' :D

And before I tell you if the TOTAL price is right or wrong, are those the prices you would have paid or the market prices?

Awwwwww man that famicom box just made me mega nostalgic, bought one on import from a local independent console store ( yes kids there was a time before Game / Gamestation ) I'd sold my imported megadrive to buy one as super mario world was too good to pass up on. It came in that box and I have to say it blew me away. even though it was jap and couldn't read the little help blocks I still struggled through and complete it, the next game that struck me as being as rounded and complete as an experience was OOT

no console since then has had the same impact upon me, paid about £230 for the famicon, plus had to grab a trinitron to take the 60hz signal awesome day.

started out with a megadrive + 40 imported games including new zealand story, rainbow islands, used to grab loads of jap titles at £50 a pop, sold all that and went to the super famicon, again bought loads of jap stuff anyone recall Area 88 by capcom ? wicked fun, had my Lynx and Game Gear lol what bricks they were, bought a Neo Geo and 4 games from the owner of the store.

am now scared

A at how much I spent back then

B at how much it all would have been worth had I kept it all in mint condition

still can't put a price on the good times I had. stunning little collection there, hope you enjoy it to it's fullest

They may have been guesses going by whats currently on the market lol. Although i was using what i payed for my pal DC as the guesstimate for that

Your words are touching bud :) And I envy you that you having played SMW on an imported Jap SNES. Although you couldnt read the words, I think that playing it on this particular region SNES just added to the nostalgia factor :)

All will be revealed in a page time :)

How are people playing their N64's on their HDTV's? - I have a Composite cable to use for my N64 and also have a scart converter. But both plugs make the image hugely over bright. Even turning the contrasts and/or brightness all the way down doesn't seem to help.

Any suggestions?

Not very helpful, but mine displays fine over composite, perhaps even a little dark compared to other consoles. :(

Do other things you plug in to the same port come out ok?

Almost completed my collection of consoles, just need to find my saturn! Got a gamecube on way to finish it off too.

Picked this lot up at a car boot sale today.
