Retro console and games thread

This thread really takes me back, oh the good old days.
Remember I used to go to dixons or comet every night after school to play on all the new consoles and games that had just come out, loved it.
Remeber my amstrad cpc 464 and c64 aswell with the tape games like dizzy and ikari warriors.:)

This thread should have its own section in the gaming section of the forums as computers and consoles both feature in this thread and it is very popular and is something everyone on here can relate to.

As promised. Simply awesome!

I've just bought a Dreamcast :D £40 from eBay, 2 controllers and vmu's, 10 games and all with leads and boxes. Well pleased with that!

Sounds about what I paid for mine with similar contents. :)

Here's my haul for the week so far. :)

DK64 and Ocarina of Time have a bit of sticker damage, but DKC and Perfect Dark have just minor scuffs that I'd expect with time. :)

Dead chuffed. Especially since I only paid £2.20 for Perfect Dark. :D

Want, got, want, want :D

My DK is in about the same condition as yours, i haven't played it yet though. I'm having problems with both my Snes and N64 in that they both don't seem to load up games at times. I have a sneaking suspicion it might be the tele messing about though :(

Ah that brings back memories, never played the middle one but remember the other two very fondly

Are people actually playing all these retro games/consoles or is it more for collecting/memorabilia sake?

I usually intend to play all of the games I get, but I seem to buy more than I have the time for (especially when I'm already trying to keep up with today's games). Most of the games I buy are the ones I enjoyed playing or that I wish I had been able to play.

A bit of both for me though. :)

I do play them, but collect as well.

Order Of The Flame - Dkc in that condition, I'm jealous and now want a Snes! Good find mate.

Got my 4 x DC pads and 1 x Vibration pack today. It's weird seeing something from so long ago as new as if it had just came off the shelve.

Also what's the deal with the DC's that are going for around £1000 plus? They all claim to be limited edition of some variety and i've never heard of half of them before :/

I do know of some that go for quite a bit, even back when I was collecting around 2004, some DC's were going for a few hundred, i.e. Resident Evil Code Veronica console was rather rare and sort after and went for a few hundred. So coming from 2004-2011, I'd say that it'd be worth a fair whack now days.

Edit: I see the one you're on about, yeah, the Seaman package was extrememly rare back in the day, I think it was a very limited run of 850.

Theres lots of rare dc,s around....sega made a fair few for big game releases (just like ms do with halo designed xboxs) many of which were done in hundreds not thousands.....hence the high prices.

That code veronica dreamcast looks really nice I've been looking for a replacement case for my dc for months.
