Retro console and games thread

I've done a bit of reading up on it. Apparently it's good for SNES (except the usual Mario RPG etc) and Megadrive games but a bit off on the NES side of things. The controllers are crap but it has all the sockets for the classic controllers which is what I'd use anyway. Seems like a good solution if you don't want to constantly switch consoles out.

EDIT: I saw one of these going cheap and cracked: http://www.converters.tv/products/64.html My wallet now hates me.

Good idea in theory, but I don't think I'd trust my cherished collection with that in case it blew my games up or something! I do like the wireless/IR pads though. I was thinking of getting a pair for my Megadrive as I sit between 2 and 3 metres from my telly and the Megadrive pad leads are about 2 and a half feet long max. However, they seem rare and expensive to get hold of.

Dam this thread. Just bought a Mega Drive (Orignal one) boxed with a few games. The bloke lives up the road from me so will collect shortly - will posts photos

For some reason I want a Mega CD and a 32x but just seen the price of them!

I got one of those Rare Resident Evil Dreamcasts hidden away from site in my house

All this thread is making me do is want to go and get me an original dreamcast and take a week off work /facepalm

Marky B, I got my Mega Cd 2 boxed with instructions and leads just like new from the good ol' Bay of E last year for 50 notes. I thought that was pretty reasonable considering its condition. What is the average price you've seen them going for because I'm not sure if they've gone up since then or if you think thats a bit too steep? If you're finding them a tad expensive I'm guessing you might be able to try a few Boot Fares or try "The Loot" newspaper if they sell it where you live, as I find private sellers normally are unaware of how valuable these things are getting. Good luck and let us know if you manage to pick up a bargain.

I need to ban myself from ebay for a while. Just got Grandia 2 and Skies of Arcadia for the Dreamcast I don't even have yet. Kinda half

Very excited, won super mario 3 today, seems excellent condition as is the manual and cart itself and at £27 with postage i dont think its too bad, really looking forword to giving it a blast again after all these years.

Please post lots of pics, love resident evil, lots of drools and jelousy!

What is every one uing to run there nes and megadrives on pc monitors? is it just the case of a lead for the composite to vga or do you need a decent converter?

I'll be taking pictures off the dreamcast now and a comulative picture of some of the resi stuff but will try get some proper pictures up maybe this weekend as there's a fair lot and it fills my floor

First off, the dreamcast! Hope you appreciate this, this is my holy grail

Most of its still unopened. The console packaging has been removed but put back on as it was only on show in a shop in japan since its creation.

Not a very low numbered model but still only 1800 of them !

on to the collection

Orginal boxxed Resi Gaiden

In this last picture, this is a box of an assortment of action figures and other things like newspaper clippings in the original film and stuff like that. As you can see down the bottom right which is off topic of Resi but it's an orginial edit Reel of the first Alien film !

And on the bottom section of the box you can see a little tag in a bag that is a security pass used in the First film.

Iv'e got mine hooked up to my 37" Hdtv as I use it for my PC's main screen as well (I have it cloned across from another 20" screen). I'm using an special AV cable for the Megadrive for the picture, and the sound is wired up to the phono input sockets on my Tv using a mini Y adaptor I got made up, so I have the best picture quality and Stereo sound. I'm sure you can get special converters to run s-video, composite etc to an actual monitor.

Nice Resi collection

I've got quite a few random bits and pieces as I get sent some weird things due to my job (had Deadly Premonition gherkins arrive for example

). Got a pretty cool RE5 print signed by the producers though

(rubbish camera phone photo)

Bit OT sorry as my retro collection is non existent these days so I just look and stare at this thread instead

So so sooo want that res collection. resi LTD DC, Do want!

just won a great condition mega drive 2 with sonic(mint with instructions) boxed, box is good, has signs of age but is pretty good, £24. then bought sonic 2 for £4 boxed mint with instructions.sonic 3 is silly so gonna hold off and bye a near mint one!
Jap console, blue reset button and oversized 16 Bit logo with blue trim around the circle, absolutely great condition boxed with all leads, box was so soo clean, £18 + 6 delivery i think, wanted to go £25 max and missed it!!!!! so gutted, really wanted this as it was a good example

Note to self* Dont use ebay drunk! should be re-classed to spending while under the influence.

Yeah, those were the ones. I was on the edge of getting MvC2 from the same seller but decided I don't like fighters enough to justify spending more money even if it was a great price.
