Retro console and games thread

Got most of the final fantasy games now, well the ones released on the playstations anyway. Just anthology, VI and X-2 now. Got XIII as well but not in the picture as its not retro or as good as the others.

sweet they release IV,V and VI on playstation aswell as i have them :D and all the ones youve got

Yes, but what I meant was the system was never designed for it so those cables simply transmit the composite signal to a scart plug which you could do using a composite to scart adaptor. Besides, both my tv's scart sockets are used and I really don't fancy having to break out the scart switch box I used to use on my old tv, its just so messy. As I've said a few times now the picture quality is superb on my tv, and was just a case of setting it up right in the menu.

Nope they actually do true RGB out. Check http://www.mmmonkey.co.uk/console/sega/md-stereo-scart.htm .

They are Rgb? Through composite? That doesn't make sense? How accurate is that site as it looks slightly er, home made?

It's quite a popular site for various mods from forums like ASSEMbler. From what I can see it uses composite for video sync instead of a dedicated video sync output, although it doesn't have much effect.

Had a search for my two prized possesions earlier, as i'm thinking of selling them:

Final Fantasy VIII - Collectors Edition

Superb condition, only the game has been used, everything is as i bought it back in 1999 from Raven Games in Beckenham.

Despite the massive following and huge amount of posts in here retro stuff seems very slow moving on MM :(

Hey I did my bit !

In my local game shop they have vandal hearts 2 they want 60 for it which seems fair.

Got intoncollecting xbox originals recently, it's quite good fun, a few hidden gems tucked away for pennies

Yeah the original XBOX is great. You can pick up a console dirt cheap and games aren't expensive either, plus you can mod them really easily so you can copy games to the hard disk and can play classics from last gen in either 480 or 720p by buying a component cable. It's lovely being able to play some of the classic Tony Hawks games in 720p
