Retro console and games thread

i have a neo geo arcarde outside in shed, bought it for £75 but the monitor constantly rolls,i was just going to break it for bits, has a mvs,and puzzle de pon.

You must have far too much money...

Nah Im only kidding...
I thought it was a joke when I read the article...

Update on my Neo Geo Endeavor.

My Supergun MKIV as come through the post. The two slot motherboard as issues so the seller told me he'll send me a four slot Neo Geo motherboard in replace of it. I've bought an old PSU from a pentium 4 computer has I hear some older arcade games need a -5Volt which you don't get on new PSUs.

I recently was the highest bidder on a Neo Geo AES arcade stick and just a few minutes ago I bought an original copy of Metal Slug for the Neo Geo MVS.

Hopefully everything will get here and no one robs me.

Cool thing is if I ever get the space I could pop that four slot in an arcade cab but until then I'll make do with the supergun.

The Supergun will allow me to play any arcade PCB too so I'm not limited to Neo Geo games. Ooo Double Dragon. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I'm gonna try make many of my dreams come true now. :D

Pictures and WIP would be great :)

saying bye bye to my last DC stuff :(
i love the console and have amazing memories but I do just need to stop collecting stuff I never play.

i was thinking about doing something like that but i thought doing it was expensive? how much does it cost to do

One of these

Supergun MIV's

As you can see all you need when the Supergun connected to the MVS is a 20 pin PSU to power it up which can purchased for less than a next to nothing as you'll only need something around 250watt.

The Supergun MIV has a allows you to connect the MVS to any TV via scart I get sound by using some Logitec PC speakers. There's also two 11 pin connections for Neo Geo AES Arcade sticks or Neo Geo CD controllers.

I've recently purchased a Neo Geo AES arcade stick for an authentic arcade or AES feel. I may buy another one for two player action.

Can Anyone spec me a good standard defintion 4:3 ratio CRT TV which I can go on the hunt for on Ebay and other places? I think classic arcades will look so much better on a good CRT instead of my HDTV.

I have a CRT 4:3 TV but it's only 14inch and way to small I want something around the size of the monitors that were in arcade machines in the 90s.

Ask around family and friends first, you'd be amazed how many people have one sat in a bedroom that they don't even watch as it's too much effort to take to the local tip.

I've picked up three doing that till I found one I liked :o

Very interesting, do they work with the motherboards that can take 8 cartridges ? I'd love to make one and put it in a pc case

I believe they work with all MVS motherboards and Jamma games. So you could get Golden Axe and play that on you TV too. I'll be able to tell you for sure when my Neo Geo stuff come through the post. :)

cool, i fancy making a tower with the board in and design it like a arcade cabinet.it was either keep using the mvs or i was going to make myself a bartop mame

Today this Four Slot Neo Geo came through the post which I bought off a user of the Jamma Plus community. Only £65

The MVS seems to be working as the test screen and menus come up and I can play around in them. The true test will come when Metal Slug comes though the post which cost £39 including postage. I'm so glad I went MVS as I can't afford the £1500 the Neo Geo AES version sells for.

I need a bigger 4:3 ratio CRT TV something by Sony or Toshiba as I hear they made the best CRT TVs for retro gaming. :)

Nice :) So the eventual idea is that you are going to make up your own cab with these NeoGeo gubbins?

I'd like to but it would be all most impossible to get a cab into my apartment. I'd like to one day rent a Hobby workshop space or a garage with electric and do it up like an arcade inside. It's not easy to find somewhere though. Ebay always comes or with business places which means the rent is insane.
