Retro console and games thread

Yeah when i do my Megadrive mod it'll be on a flick switch aswell with different LED colours depending on the mode it's in (stock/overclocked).

I have a Nintendo 64 Pikachu edition, which is apparently limited edition. I might have to go and dig it out, it's on ebay for £80+ :O

I remember seeing those on sale at Toys R Us years ago for £19.99 on clearance sale. But because they looked so horrible I couldnt bring myself to buy one.

Spent about 2 hours last night playing mario kart double dash and ssx3 with my 7 year old sister.SSX is still as good as I remember it , I am on the hunt for more GameCube games this week

Grabbed a bargain today at a bootsale.

Dreamcast with 1 controller (no cables and no game though) £5.

May have just purchased a brick!

Just wondering if anybody on here mods their retro consoles? I just finished modding a v1 Megadrive/Genesis so it actually has composite plugs, with proper L/R stereo and video, i could have added S-Video too, but i'm lazy. :p

I plan to overclock the old girl too with a 10mhz oscillating crystal and some extra circuitry, and i have a bunch of other mods lined up for other consoles... i just have to take possession of said consoles for a reasonable price. :p

Can post pictures if anybody is interested.

I'm planning on modifying my Gameboy color by putting a frontlight from the gameboy advance sp in with a few other bits n pieces. I just need to get a soldering iron. Will post pictures when I've finished it.

Kind offer but i've literally just brought the necessary cables for £8 on the bay.
Looking for my first game now.. :D

Sorry if this was already posted but I can never remember. I added a 60Hz switch to my SNES :) Bloody horrible desoldering those tiny little pins. Done a little overclocking to some Super FX games too (Stunt Race FX and Doom).

EDIT: Just had a thought, we probably won't be able to do it here but is anyone up for doing a trading thread in the Members Market? I have a spare gamecube and various other bits if anyone would be up for a trade or something!

These are the ones I used.

It doesn't really matter what you grab though, as the supercic can be set to use either a common anode rgb led or a common cathode multi-colour led. The Multi-colour leds maplin sell should work fine as well, just expensive at over £1 for a single 5mm

Cheers :). Have you got one spare that you could sell for like a quid or something? I won't need 5 so the extra cost of the extra four is something I wouldn't mind avoiding :p.
