Retro console and games thread


Perfect Dark

I picked up the TV this morning, it's damn heavy, me and a mate struggled to get it down one flight of stairs and up another, 1.5 hour round trip and the picture quality has improved with the S-video cable, but annoyingly my screen flickers every 5-6 seconds for an instant, I tested out the other consoles and all work fine with no flicker. Hmm..
Still, successful day!
Now to spend an absolute fortune on N64 games ;)

Have you notice how 2D games age better. When a 3D game gets a few years old it looks like azz. I guess it's like hand drown images you never look at art and go that looks dated and crap.

Well maybe crap if the artist wasn't very good. :)
 
you are 100% right i think. streets of rage 2 still looks great for a side scroller beat em up where the original tekken now really shows its ages.
 
been a good megadrive weekend for me. mate was having clearout so got general chaos, altered beast, mega bomberman and soleil all boxed for 8 quid. and just won super off road, sonic 2 and mm 96 for just over 10 quid delivered on bay :) all look immaculate and complete
 
Grats. The Sony Trinitron I bought a few weeks back is great. Fantastic picture on retro games. Have you got the Neo Geo MVS or will you be getting it some time in the near future?

I had chance of this > SNK 1slot 1F NeoGeo MVS Board Unibios for £65 but missed out, you think this was a fair price ?
 
found an auction this morning on bay. put in cheeky 3.20 bid and won it lol.....seems i now have 2 megadrives! was 9.70 inc. delivery inc. pad and olympic gold and taz mania
 
i won a ps1 bundle with games and accessories for 3 quid total :p

been on n64 last few days after finding joypads thought id lost great fun :cool:

An original Double Dragon PCB. Looks like he has it connected to the same Supergun I have. So I know it'll work. :D

Seems like a fair deal. I was lucky I got a for slot for £65. I was originally buying a two slot MVS but the guy I was buying from told me sorry the two slot appears faulty but he had a four slot I could have in place of it. I was happy. :D

Yeah I remember playing thought the entire game with that trick when I was a kid. :D

I need somewhere I could put cabinets so I can recreate my youth. I could even host charity event's where all the money that goes in the machines goes to worthy causes. Probably wont happen but it's nice to have a dream.

Scored the Mega Drive II - Sonic 2 Edition, it is pristine, infact the box is in better condition than the one below it.

Got it for a song, a long with Streets of Rage 2 and the Mickey Mouse game pictured to the right...

:)
 
10-20 quid all day . could have brought md other day 10 games all good went for 12 quid couldnt be bothered to fetch it :p

sega just dont fetch any money unless rare
 
No rush to sell these examples. I could wait another 20 years if need be. It is likely to fetch something one day. But to be honest the SMS1 would probably be worth something over the MD2's. Probably not here, but on eBay things get crazy at times...

I have some Amiga's(500+ 600 and 1200) still tucked away which should fetch a few bob hopefully within the next decade :p
