Hi all,

The last week ive been re-living my retro childhood days.

However coming to the N64 to play Goldeneye+Mario etc.

I did need to buy an AV composite cable as i've lost track of mine.

anyway the Brightness/contrast is way off!

anyone else have this issue? i'm using a 50" plasma

Seeing all the NeoGeo games is burning a hole in my pocket. Haven't picked up anything for a while just Q*Bert for the Atari 2600 which isn't even a good port of the game but it was boxed and going cheap.

The guy who owns Insane Games is opening up a retro arcade near their Bridgewater store. I believe they're aiming for April. Looks like they already have quite a few cabs and the plan is to get more 80s and 90s stuff once its up and running. Here is a short video of their progress. I know its not retro consoles but I thought the people in here would appreciate it. I will certainly be making the trip down when it opens.

That sounds awesome! I had spotted talk about arcade machines on their Facebook but obviously wasn't reading closely enough.

I may have to pop down to take a gander.

Might pop to the BW store tommorow to see if they have had anything new in Retro wise (probably have but I will have missed it).

Can't say anything similar has happened to me, I played both N64 and my Gamecube not to long ago and was perfectly fine

I had over bright issues with n64 on svideo. Apparently a known issue. Google it up

Bought an svideo cable from consolegoods.co.uk - looks amazing!

One game i always had fond memories of was Quackshot on the Mega Drive so after about 20 years of first playing i had to fire it up and take a walk down the 16bit road

I was going to sell off all my PAL PS1 stuff but too many fond memories came back, so I have decided to sell and replace the choice games with NTSC versions. 60Hz no borders, nicer cover art, inside art and full colour manuals. Why did Europe get shafted so much in the 90s and 00s....

I know which version I prefer :)

I've been browsing through this thread over the past few days, and i got the sudden urge to set up my old Megadrive, MegaCd, 32X setup. Now bear in mind that this has been variously sat in lofts and garages for the past erm nearly twenty years, i was a little dubious as to whether it would work...so imagine my joy when i got this:

I am suprised and very pleased... so today will mostly be about playing old games, and getting out my Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, Xbox and seeing if they still work...

I'm also on the lookout for a SNES, as i always wanted one but never got one :(.

Wow, Megadrive 1 with a 32X. I had huge issues trying to get both mine to work together back in the day, to the point that I just bought a Megadrive 2 :p.

Shame the 32X was such a flop, I know I'm in the minority, but I really liked it, had some good games, Doom, Metal Head, Star Wars. Only regret is that I never got my hands on Knuckles' Chaotix.

Personally I prefer the PAL cover art on the FF games. But apart from that, totally agree it's the wise move going for the NTSC versions of the games for the superior experience.

Also the MD/MCD/32X setup looks lovely above.

The 32x always worked flawlessly with my MD1, I've got Metalhead and Virtua Racing Deluxe, it was a great system, just poorly executed.

I'm just testing all my other stuff, so expect more pics soon :D

Right so I've been through everything, and it all still works, huzzah!

So here's some photos of my stuff:

very pleased with all this, all though i now need to get some games for the xbox, I'm thinking at least Halo and KOTOR...I also need a Gamecube as i found some games for that as well...so all in a nice little haul, and another hobby to add to my collection of things I do. (more pics to follow)

So here's all the games for the Dreamcast, I'm missing the AV cable for the DC which is a pain, but it does start up and make reassuring noises, so fingers crossed it will display something:

and for the Saturn:

I think i may need to replace a CMOS battery, as it ask for language and date/time everytime i start the console.
