Retro console and games thread

Can't believe you picked that up from Argos!! Excellent find. Keep it sealed, it's gonna be worth something no doubt esp with that awesome pad. Never gave the game a chance when it came out but will deff come back to it as it gets such good reviews.

Loads of people are buying it now, prices have shot up

Anyhoo look what I got for a fiver!:eek::eek:

Even comes with the glass case ^

I'm going to try to tidy up my Dreamcast...

What would you suggest for getting rid of all the dirt? It genuinely seems to be dirt / stain rather than the plastic going funny in the sun...

Completely dismantle it (ensure all metal parts are removed) and wash with soap / water. Make sure it is bone dry and the re-assemble. I find a quick spray of polish once done makes it shine nicely (even though it's white).

Seems the disc drive on my Dreamcast is broked :( . I got a scart cable to try it, and it turns on and displays fine, but trying to run any games and it just keeps coming back saying please insert game disc...huff.

This vid just popped up in my sub box. Maybe it can help you fix it.

I'm on the ipad hence the mobile youtube site.

Had a nice text from work friend last night. She has a md menacer n loads of md games i can have for free....woot!

Possibly a megadrive 1 in there too so may have extra one :)

This a known problem to you then? S-Video will fix it? Reason is I'm going to be selling my N64 on eBay and I don't want the recipient to have this problem. Could this be just my TV or common prob?

I think its known on scart cables as the cheap ones don't have the added resistors for the signal so end up with over saturation issues

Had the same with my cube too with a cheap cable. Buy a cheap composite, looks horrific but you cant go wrong :)

Guy at work has built some kind of hybrid a1200 in a tower case setup with loads of piggyback boards etc.....looks awesome.

Bringing back my amiga fever.....now want a 604 expansion and new drive in the a600 and been looking at flicker fixers :)

Is this difficult? I've taken apart big PS2s before but never a dreamcast! Is it possible to give it a De-dust at the same time too?

Well I opened her up and removed all the innards using a youtube video as a guide. It was really simple, much easier than a PS2!

I gave the case a good wash and scrub with fairy and i'll leave it to dry over night. When you say spray of polish, is wood polish fine on plastics?

I took a few pics so might whack those up if I find my cable.

Sorry just seen your post but it looks like you have already done it. :)

I should have said it's very easy dismantling a DC.

I just used normal "household" polish (pledge etc). Just a light spray and a quick wipe over the main case/housing. Makes it shine quite nicely.

So after finding all my old consoles i decided that i needed to pick up a decent CRT as they looked awful on my LCD tv.

This is what i ended up getting for £10! Sony Trinitron 21" with stereo sound :D RGB looks stunning through it. Just means i need to get RGB cables now for the majority of my systems. I have a NES, SNES, N64, Gamecube, Dreamcast and hopefully arriving this week an Japanese Megadrive. Me and my young Son can now enjoy some old retro games :-)

Got to say, i'm pretty chuffed with it!

Nice one cee! GigaWing2 on which format is that?

Also where are you going to put all your consoles?

It's on the Dreamcast . It's the only system I have an rgb cable for. I had just got the tv home in the picture and was just testing.

I have a room which runs under the stairs. It's actually a decent size, perfect for a little retro corner :-)
