Pr0n!

Hopefully getting my amiga gear down from the loft next week if the lady wife doesn't mind :)

Got given a new fdd drive, CF reader with ide cable, SCSI CD-ROM drive and a full set of workbench 2.1 disks to get hard disk up and going

Looking at buying a 3.1 rom chip and updating to 3.5 OS soon as friend has the OS disks and then getting the A604n 2mb expansion chip to top it off.....oh how i love amigafever lol

So i made a start today on my Retro corner.

It was basically the cloakroom under our stairs which was just a dumping ground for Junk etc.

This was how it was

So i sorted that mess out and went and bought a cheap TV stand from Argos and this is where I'm at now.

Nothing was plugged in at the time as i need to get a SCART splitter box. Plugged the NES in though to have some Mario time :-)

The N64 will probably get put away as I'm expecting my Megadrive to arrive this week. Will more than likely paint it in some nice colours and get myself a comfy bean bag.

Goemon is an awesome game! However would you want to sit under a cloak room?

Its actually quite long, just really narrow that's all so actually not that bad. Plus its a new build so doesn't feel like a Cloak room. It just has coat hangers at the other end lol. Once I get the bean bag it will be sweet :-)

Also I have no where else really to put my old retro stuff. My wife doesn't want it in the living room, and I can't really argue with her as neither would I want it clogging up the living room. That's why I bought the 21" CRT as I knew it would just fit in the room hahaha.

To be fair looks pretty cool, just seems a bit Harry Potter!

I sold all my old school gaming stuff I just hate the old controllers! (I'd rather play them on xbox live arcade for instance, I can appreciate that not all titles are available however)

I have a Good PC, PS3, PS4 and X360 and i just can't get on with emulation. I actually prefer the old controllers. Also being in my early 30's I grew up with all those system under that TV, the nostalgia part has a lot to play in it. Cannot beat playing those old machine on an "old" TV haha :p.

That stand looks made to measure. Do you have a power ssocket in there though?

£20 from Argos lol. I think it does the Job. The power socket is the opposite side of the room so i just run a 4 gang extension from it.

Totally with you on that :)

Friend at work can't see the charm and thinks i am a nutter. He has never had a console though apart from xbox onwards.

Its the tangibility of it too, i love having the original pads, games n machine :)

I'm the other way round emulation for some reason never holds my interest but playing the real console on a CRT can have me addicted, maybe it's because I'm connecting more with the childhood experience more.

Which TV stand is that (from Argos)?

It looks perfect for what I need in our second bedroom. I don't have room for half of my consoles in our "new" place and once re-done our lounge will be for "current" consoles only* (where my retro ones are currently will be a fire place).

*Apart from my Dreamcast, that isn't bloody moving!:p

EDIT: Found it. Not a bad price and looks much better IRL than on the website.

Its a decent stand for the price. Its 90cm in width, to give you an indication the width of that room is roughly 95cm lol so it was a tight fit but I think it looks pretty decent and has space for a good few consoles as you can see.

For sure, it's hard to get the game at that price even on the bay, i've seen it go for as high as 35-40+. Thankfully it ended at 9.15am which is early for ebayers :p
Wow! Really..... guy at work sold me it for a quid :D

Guess i did ok with that deal then
