In other good news, borrowed a friends psu for the n64 n it works fine with it.....PHEW!

Now that I have my RGB modded US SNES Mini its time to get some more games, found this one in really nice condition and for a great price on the bay over the weekend. Shame a lot of the games I want cost a fortune these days cough cough Chrono Trigger 
I swapped the old battery out with a holder so replacing it next time will be a breeze. This one was easy to do but my Secret of Mana was a right struggle to de-solder.

He he the first one I did was my Secret of Mana a few weeks ago (maybe not the best game to try as it costs a few quid now) and I was in a right state as the dam battery would not come off and took forever to de-solder for some reason. A few heart attacks later I replaced it and now I'm level 21 and enjoying the game without fear of losing my save half way through. My brother who is also into snes got Final Fantasy 3 and put 20 hours in then the battery died....
My advice: heat up the iron for ten mins first, have a de-solder braid to hand and be patient
It really is easy to do and worth doing as soon as you get new carts. I'll do my F-Zero later this week me thinks.

Talking of SNES, i just performed my First SUPERCIC mod. Those of you not aware of what the SUPERCIC does, it basically fools the lockout chip inside the SNES. It is switchless, and the modes are activated using the Reset button. This allows games which are MOD aware to play as it fools them into thinking its the genuine lockout.
It also allows you to play your pal games in 60HZ yay! It's not the easiest of mods but the next one i do will be a lot easier now i know where alternative points to solder to are.
Here it is being tested with a Japanese copy of Dead Dance... excuse the mess

Yeah the SNES Mini rocks via RGB very nice and vibrant colours compared to the original model. I just can't do PAL 50Hz retro games so I sold my PAL NES as the experience was just meh, slow and yucky borders. I grew up with a US SNES which was pretty cool and had quite a few NTSC PS1 games aswell so it was 60hz goodness for the most part as a youngster. Thankfully Sega came the rescue with 90% PAL 60 support with the Dreamcast
Nice work with the SuperCIC mod kudos! I'd love to try some modding sometime I quite fancy a region free PS One ( the mini one) as its nice and small to tuck under the TV. I got a US FF9 and Parasite Eve 2 recently that need to played through.
Here is my baby snes complete with LED mod to temp you even more cee-S-dee:
One tip if looking to get an RGB Scart lead, avoid the cheap ones on eBay UK and get a fully shielded and grounded one from retro_accessories in the states. The cheap cables produce a loud buzzing/hum when there are lots of bright colours on the screen due to zero shielding Oh and for those that don't know US SNES's play JAP games as well, all you need to do is snip the two plastic tabs in the cartridge bay. The motherboards are identical to the super famicom ones. I also found out that the JAP version of Super Metroid is in English but also is the exact same ROM as the US version at half the price to buy!!

I can't deal with PAL50 Full stop hahaha. I just tried my PAL Super Tennis in 60hz and the speed difference is astonishing! I supposed i never new any better as a child.
If you look in the pic above i have a PSone which i'm going to mod soon. My Japanese copy of Street Fighter EX+2 arrived today which i won for £1.20 off the bay lol. I love that game.
I mod all my consoles if there are mods which improve them.

I will most certainly get a Quality lead when i get one. No point having a 1CHIP snes and using a crap cable, defeats the whole point!

I think I paid around 40.00 for mine, it was unboxed but I was lucky to get the official matching controller with it. The thing is import tax and shipping knock the price up to about 70+ quid and then you need to mod it for RGB and buy an appropriate psu and RGB lead.
Glad I finally got one, been after one for years and the one I got is in nice condition with just the odd scuff, not bad considering it was unboxed. The good news is that these don't yellow like the original fat models and have the superior 1CHIP video encoder chip for much sharper and more vibrant visuals.
Larrs888 is correct about the import tax and shipping cost does bump the price up nearly double in some cases. I will get one though.
Got two pal ones to sell on, one which i just SuperCIC'd and the other i will do in the next week or so and put them up on the bay.
