Retro console and games thread

Pics courtesy of the ebay seller :).....should get this next week. was meant to be a collection only auction but offered to arrange a cheap courier to collect and she said yes

no one else bid so I got it for £15 :D

Pics of Speccy

Nice! The unit itself looks in mint condition.

Yep I have definitely lost my little gaming corner for a while:

Apparently "just getting a file" requires 3 hours worth of playing Overkill :p

(EDIT: sorry for the picture quality, I have no idea what my phone was focusing on).

Mint but opened versions go for £100 - £150, if it's genuinely factory sealed and never been opened, well...

And who the **** has factory sealed copies of Zelda on car boot anyway?

 Ouch... May ebay it then. Or.... Irritate a mass load of collectors and open it and play the hell out of it.

The people I got it from had been clearing out their loft. I missed the Sega Saturn and the Dreamcast, didn't get up early enough.

Did pick up a couple of other bits for the NES and SNES. Not sealed, but in pretty good nick. Unirally, Snake, Rattle & Roll, Super Mario Bros 2, Solstice, another Maro Kart cart, nes zapper and a couple of Advantage sticks for the NES and SNES. Just need to get my SNES working again and move into a house where I can have all this stuff out and I'll be happy.

There was someone else selling a very tatty boxed SNES for £200 and a Xbox DevKit *the clear one* console only for £200. There was something that I thought was a PS2 Dev Kit there as well, but didn't get a good look at it.

Nice as they were, not worth that amount.

Picked up a couple of bits in the week

Powerbase for the Megadrive 1.

Megadrive 2 with Mega CD but the Megadrive is a bit faulty, reset button doesn't work and it has a hard time starting up games. Luckily the place I got it from has just got in the Mega CD v1 so if its tested and working I should be able to swap it for that.

Bargain for a mega cd 1 tbh if its working. My endless hunt for one continues lol

I've been looking for one for a while. If it was there when I bought the v2 I would have got it instead. Should find out tomorrow if its working and hoping I can do a straight swap.

So the wife and lil boy are away for a few days so I am bringing home a small mountain of retro tomorrow night to go in the loft / set up if I can. All rather exciting that I have time to organise it all at last. 3 odd boxes of big box Amiga games, 50 odd xbox games, boxed ps1 and crystal xbox to name just some of it ( have my own little cupboard in the dev lab lol)

How random, plugged in my Megadrive2/CD last night for a bit of play too!

Spent about 10 minutes on Quackshot trying to figure out what to do when it says I can't climb high walls. Stupid game :o

(Ended up hammering all the buttons and apparently I need to call the Airplane!)

Thinking of picking up a copy of ghouls and ghosts but not sure what version is considered the best mega drive or super nintendo, what do u guys think, I know both will be rock hard though

I thought that the megadrive was meant to be the better of the 2, I imagine it will come down to preference as always. chances are the sound may have been a tiny bit better on the SNES, but GFX were less muddy on the MD

edit - just watching a comparison video, the snes sound is AMAZING! and it drops a bit of mode 7 3d in for good measure too on menu's
