Retro console and games thread

Maybe I'm turning into an OCD collector now, basically I'm trying to replace a not so nice copy of Code Veronica for my Dreamcast with a more minty example. So I ask this seller on eBay about the discs and the overall condition and cleanliness etc, disc looks good so far right?

Take a look at the sellers keyboard in the background  Is it just me or is that just gross, I really wouldn't want anything off someone that can not be bothered to clean thier keyboard and continue to use it like that!

Those mac keyboards get very dirty very easily.

Also, if the game is in good condition, I couldn't care less what kinda mess the person lives in.

I've seen many of those Mac keyboards in a similar condition.

This is my latest Retro gaming purchase. A nice mint condition Famicom. I bought it from Japan and it only took a week to arrive. I am very happy with it. 6 Games which 3 are Mario, 1 Yoshi, 1 Tetris and 1 Donkey Kong 3.

Thanks. Actually they are not. The platform games like Mario and Donkey Kong are all in English, even the title screens. The only one that got Japanese is Mario Golf, but is only starting at first and the rest is in English then.

Probably RPG's will be, so might be a problem but most games are not dialogue based so it is OK.

Congrats on the Famicom!! I bought one from Japan and it also took 6 days to arrive! Couldn't believe it. I RGB modded mine and its unbelievable how good games look in RGB. Best mod i ever done to any of my consoles.

Famicom games are miles cheaper then their NES equivalents. You can pick up the Rockman Series (AKA Mega Man) for substantially less then if you were to get them on the NES! Also you get that awesome expansion audio!

Enjoy!

need to get an update my collection document as have picked up a few its lately.

My dream of a proper retro man cave is at the 1% progress mark as we have estate agents valueing our house tomorrow :D

Are all these Famicom coming via the bay or is there a good site I can visit for a browse and buy? :)

I bought my AV famicom off ebay. I think it cost me £64 or around that shipped. Mine was un-boxed but came with 2 dog bone controllers and all cables.

The Sharp Twin Famicom was off a guy in Japan who i follow on instagram who restores them. That cost me about £100 shipped but £30 of that was custom fee's.

@cee-S-dee Cheers. I will have to look into buying the Megaman games as that is one of the reasons I bought one, price difference. Also I will have to look into the RGB mod I think as I did not know that. Thanks.

No it was from Ebay I bought mine.

There are so many great games for the famicom! I'm just going through Kirby's Adventure. Its an awesome game and i'm really enjoying it. Graphics and Sound are ace and gameplay is really fun!

the NESRGB mod is not a easy task to take on. The board alone cost about £65 shipped and then you either need to fit it yourself or pay someone to do it and i think the going rate for an install is about £80!

Its an expensive mod and if your not bothered about the best picture quality then it may not be for you. I'm really OCD about getting the Picture quality from my systems and i was able to install the mod myself.

Picture is fantastic mind and if you are one who likes great picture quality then its worth it. I started playing Punchout earlier and this is how it looks in RGB

That does look great, but at the moment I got it hooked up to a old 28" CRT Sony Triniton, so looks slightly better than on my LED TV.

And yeah I am going to look for the games as there is a few I fancy lol (just need more funds haha)

Still no excuse for not cleaning your keyboard, sorry I couldn't type on something like that yuck! I reckon If someone can't bothered to clean their keyboard then their other belongings are probably equal filthy, red flag in my book and not worth the chance. I've had a few ebay games arrive over the years with mould growing on the inlays, rust, moisture damage, and funny smells on 'mint' or 'very good' listings :(

Received my copy of Resident Evil 2 on Saturday but didn't get to play it till today as I went out. I've not played this in a couple of years but I sailed through on my 1st go! Played on Normal difficulty and I honestly don't remember the game being that easy as a kid. I was stocked up with the upgraded Magnum for the final boss fight (Birkin) and the souped-up Shotgun. Did it in 3 hours and 17 minutes with only 3 saves, was well chuffed.

Can't believe how much stuff about this game by brain retained from so many years ago, I can barley remember what happened last week!

Will be doing Claire B tomorrow, supposedly it's meant to be much harder but we'll see. ;)
