Retro console and games thread

They are all the crappy emulators with games built in. Surely its just like selling a laptop with 5000 roms?

I'm suprised they can even be sold as 'Sega' Megadrive With 80 Games.

I had one years ago and it was total garbage, nothing like the original (not that specific one, it was for some arcade games)

I believe it's an officially licenced product and that the built in games are emulated. But it can play most original cartridges and is region free and plays PAL, NTSC and NTSC-J games. It lacks stereo sound output and apparently the sound quality isn't great.

The pads look nasty and they (the 3rd party consoles in general) will not be collectable like originals are.

I have just added another £40 to my total - 2 official 6 button pads, street fighter2, sonic 2, corporation, earthworm jim and 4 games without boxes and/or manuals. The pads go for about £15 each and SF2 £10 usually so havent done bad.

Complete setup now really, just need a box then its all official sega gear and a very good bundle if I decide to sell on

When it comes to Mega Drive its got to be the real deal! This is my Japanese MD1

:) A friend had one when I was younger but the games made no sense what so ever... that's because they were in Japanese! Mine (PAL model 1) will hopefully be arriving tomorrow along with all the other stuff i've ordered for it

Loving the Mega Drive pics. I'm looking to get the MK1 HD one soon. I think it's getting better looking with age. When I was a boy I preferred the SNES styling but now think it looks really bland.

A Jap MD is still on my list, that one looks brand new! I'm torn between a boxed one and a loose console, the later usually in poorer cosmetic condition. Maybe an Xmas present for my self this year :)

You need to get one dude. I have always loved the Japanese Model. I always thought it was the best looking machine. When paired up with the MK1 MegaCD it looked awesome!

Here are my 4 most played machines and the MD looks the best imho! :D

Me and my brother have set up a little retro stream on twitch, nothing professional, just a means for us to play through our games, so if anyone wants to watch and follow would be appreciated :-) currently playing gunbird on the ps2 we picked up today for a £1 lol http://www.twitch.tv/sanddanceruk

Sand dancers, lol. You probably live like 2 mins down the road from me :P

Anyone know if the Sega Megadrive PSU is ok to use on a PAL NES?

Just tried it unplugged.

Not the same fitting, so no.

Any recommendations on a replacement or how to replace the end fitting?

Followed, you should turn on past broadcast saving.

I look forward to checking out some future streams.
