Retro console and games thread

Found a working Commodore C64C complete and working with a power supply, tv cable and Quickshot style jopypad for £50. I think I might go for it.

Casing is a bit yellowed as is the keypads but nothing a deep clean can't fix. I missed mine as a child so will probably be buying it.

I've heard I need a RCA cable or similar? one big circular pronged cable leading into 3 different coloured cables. The name escapes me.

Being used on a HDTV or do I need a different cable altogether?

I had a scart cable arrive for mine today from amigakit. Will let you know if it works :)

Only a 5 pin din connector.....Guessing it's correct??

Sorry meant found online. Found a cheaper one on an retro site with £42 for C64, rf cable, tape deck and psu.

Just deciding what to do. I heard it was an 8 pin?

Gave a few quid to Cancer Research UK on lunch break today :)

Both immaculate and complete

Cant knock them for a quid each, i still play micro machines to this day a great multiplayer game.

I'm currently contemplating selling off a few bits of my collection to help fund decorating etc. I haven't used the consoles for ages but I like to have them.

None of them are anything particularly special as they're not boxed etc but a few interesting games etc and if I remember correctly two boxed Megadrive arcade sticks... (anyone any idea what they might be worth?

Just placed an order on the forest:

PS1:
Sled Storm, Driver 2, Wipeout 2097 Platinum, Toca Touring Cars.

PS2: Driv3r, Black, Final Fantasy 12, Juiced 2, Burnout Revenge, GTA 3, Memory card.

So glad I kept a gift card back! Going to enjoy these.

I have a boxed Quickshot XII Deluxe joystick for the NES that has failed to sell for the third time.

Anyone want dibs on it? Happy to send it out no charge.

I've also got a spare copy of Monkey Hero for PS1 too. Same deal as above.

Monkey Hero arrived today, thanks a lot mate, hopefully try it out this weekend :D

Open a dispute for not as described, you can't lose, seller will have to pay for return shipping. You'll be refunded in full including any postage costs as soon as tracking says it's been delivered back.

Make sure you open not as described case, not any other reason.

You're welcome, enjoy.

cant test it at the moment, when my other snes arrives, that comes with a lead to modern tvs

if it works, is it worth keeping if I can get him to refund some money?

You can message him first and explain you don't think the item description matches what you've received, go from there and try for a partial refund. If he says send it back then I'd go through the dispute process, that way you're completely covered. You should be able to add pictures to any message you send, particularly if the damage wasn't described or pictured in the original listing.

I don't understand the seller

sent him a message Sunday night asking if he can post it, for a delivery Wednesday, didn't reply till Monday, (he works nights or something like that)
said to me , earliest he can post it was Tuesday, so I said ok that's fine
Tuesday comes (today) and it arrives (as per my photos)
seller just sent me an email saying, sorry they are now sold
wtf lol

What consoles and games?

Are they 3 button or 6 button sticks?

The 3 button ones go for £15-20, the 6 button ones are around the £35-40 mark. Those are auctions not stupidly high buy it now's that never sell.

I doubt the box is small enough to qualify as a Royal Mail small packet, so you'd be looking at around £5 to post using Hermes or Collect+

Don't forget eBay fees are 10% of the total value of the sale, including postage. PayPal is around 3% of the total amount plus 20p per transaction.

That sucks, I never assume anything with condition on eBay, even if listed as very good etc. I always sound OCD when I ask but I either get the reassurance and purchase or don't bother.

I've had carts turn up yellowed, manuals with rust on staples and water damage, scratched discs etc. I ask all about this now and have avoided such issues and received some really nice condition retro games :) Patience and persistence pays off.

Are you going to return it or ask for a partial refund? SNES console are a dime a dozen out there and in nice condition if you keep looking :)

Every game I sell on eBay is put in the "acceptable" category for it's condition, which is lowest, irrespective of the actual condition. I say in the listing why I've done it and include the maximum 12 pictures, so they can tell how good or bad it is. That way buyers should never disappointed with what they get.
