Retro console and games thread

You need to star making videos about your trips up the loft. Then show off everything you find like Link does when he opens a chest.

Those stickers should come off easy enough though. Pretty sure I've got 2 original Gameboy's kicking about somewhere. Still can't believe you kept so much, I'd sell all my stuff to fund for new ones when I was younger.

Haha I don't think that would make for an interesting watch, it's dark and messy up in the loft!

I was lucky that my parents were really good and if I studied hard in school they would always reward me well on my birthday and Christmas.

I have given away most of my Nes, SNES, N64 and Dreamcast consoles to family members in the past and they would borrow games to which I would never see again lol
I have sold off a few items in the past to local retro collectors to get rid of the clutter.
Like I said previously my only regret is that I threw out my pocketstation many years ago thinking it wouldn't be worth anything. Doh!

barmyllama I've got a chance to get a b&o tv like yours..... Also the guys saying this b&o tv is like 70+kg. That doesn't seem right, is it? 28".

I was given this (https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/NTAwWDYwMA==/z/QCkAAOSwMHdXR085/$_86.JPG) B&O TV for free on Gumtree for free, complete with swivel stand and I think some kind of VCR, a few years ago. The sound quality was incredible for a TV and the picture was pretty good too. I remember it being a bit picky about what types of connections you could use for what devices and you had to tell it what device was plugged In :/ I wish I had kept it!

But yes, it is incredibly heavy, definitely a two man job carrying it around.

Edit- what I actually came to the thread for was to post about my cardboard case for Shenmue DC game, which is getting a bit frayed. How can I protect it (obviously sellotape will rip the graphics right off it!) without damaging it further?

The B&O sets are really nice consumer units. I'm sure there are some tricks you can perform with interlaced images too. The only thing with one of these sets is make sure it comes with the remote or you are limited to what you can mess with regarding options.

Omg i loved the gba sp! Was perfect imo, and where i first experianced a link to the past! May look in to picking one up.

What would be the best way to play retro games hand held wise? I used to have a naughty psp but not sure what happened to that! The psp go looks appealing but not sure if it can be used in the same way

Currently using a JXD S7800B tablet for all my retro needs after i sold my collection.

Mainly use if for mega drive/snes emulating but have tried ps1 games on it which also work fine.

The controls are solid well laid out and can be mapped to android store games if thats your sort of thing.

First of 2 Japanese consoles arrived. Both were bought from the same guy, he sent them in different boxes. Ones currently being held, so opened up to check I'd imagine. Means more customs to pay, boooo!

Ah yes, forgot to say haha. Gold n64 with controller and a gold GameCube on its own. Gold GameCube controllers go for almost double the price of the actual console. I'll wait till I have more expendable cash before i get one. Even got a ntsc wii coming and a wii u again. Her indoors is gonna hit the roof.

I'm considering having a clear out of some retro stuff as room is becoming an issue now. I've put it off for long enough.

MD, PS2, PS1,and a Saturn plus some PS3 stuff too.

A few fairly good games to get my back into my Dreamcast. One of the ebay sellers added a little note and chocolate which was a nice touch, yay. None of the games support VGA, boo :(

It's weird that you can buy a new memory card for a console that has been discontinued for 15 years... It really was new, I had to remove the battery earth thing on the back (it still has charge!)

Well I'm sure to feel gutted or relived I saved some money. I was eying up a boxed minty US SNES Mini on eBay from a UK seller for £160 but missed out as I couldn't deicide if I wanted it or not. The thing is I bought a loose one 2 years ago and RGB modded it so don't really need another snes but a boxed console would have been nice to go along with the boxed games I have. Guess I can keep the cash and buy some other games on my wish-list....

Do you guys bother with boxed consoles or are you have to have the them loose?

Generally no.

The last PS2 I bought, to keep, was boxed. It was only a tenner so was still cheaper than buying a loose one off eBay.

I've had a few boxed consoles pass through my hands, such as the Mega Drive Mark II, Zelda, black and indigo GameCubes. The N64, Original PlayStations, Slim PS's and NES.

But since I don't collect consoles, I've just kept the loose ones I want to use and sold the boxed ones on and used the money to buy games instead.
