Temped to get one myself for arcade games. But that still means playing on an LCD TV.

Still trying to find the best way to connect a PC to a CRT TV. I've done it with S Video in the past, but I was never that happy with the results.

Talking of TV's. I've swapped my CRT TV's over and now I have my Sony Trinitron at home and the B&O at work. The Sony takes up far more room and doesn't look as aesthetically pleasing as the B&O. But the image quality more than makes up for it.

One thing that's annoying me is it defaults to widescreen rather than 4:3 every time it's powered of. And it defaults back to the built in speakers as well, which I don't need as it's connected to my AV receiver.

Grovemame pc, radeon 9xxx series gfx card and crt_emu driver. Then a vga to scart cable or extron box. That is probably the best way to hook a pc up to a CRT.

Regarding the widescreen behaviour, it's to do with how the cable is wired. I can't remember the pins but sending a voltage through the pins tells the tv which format to switch to.

Thanks for that.

Currently using a HAMA SCART selector and RGB cables for consoles. Doesn't make any difference if I connect directly or through the HAMA. I guess it's just something I'll have to live with, because it just looks so good.

I used to have the exact same TV. For a consumer unit the picture was amazing. Only reason I passed it on because I had no room after picking up 3 PVM'S, but my friend benefited as he had it. They have great sound being stereo.

For the price of admission, its proving to be a good purchase! Very easy to set up etc. Had a go on a MD rom and a few SNES ones all running flawlessly. Using a ps3 controller at the moment which the unit picked up right away and configured! It has built in bluetooth so hopefully can use it wireless

I would love it to work over crt and was wondering the same.

But for quick plays and trying things out its fine on my pc monitor, not tried it on main tv yet but imagine the results to be the same

Rather sexy little bit of kit

I'd say the sound quality is on par with the B&O. So the only thing the B&O has going for it are its compact size and aesthetics. That's not to say it's not a quality CRT TV, just that the Trinitrons tend to be more readily available, cheaper to buy and less of a faff to tinker with.

Someone needs to design a HDMI to RGB SCART adapter. :D

Only just discovered this thread and have spent the last 2 hours pretty much reading it all....
And now since I'm at my mum's for the weekend I'll spend tomorrow morning in the loft trying to find my SNES, PC engine and whatever else may be in the loft that I didn't sell for skateboard parts 20+ years ago :D

They do exist. Seen them for around the £12 mark on that popular auction site. They do different adapters for each way - HDMI device input to scart output or scart device input to HDMI output. I'd always struggled to think why anyone would want to take a nice HDMI signal and mess it up with scart, but this application definitely makes sense.

Just bought a playstation with games, cables and controllers for £2.

Heading out for today though, so can't check it all out until later

Awesome price. I'd never get so lucky. Trying to find a spare Saturn and Dreamcast to keep as backups for my current one but they all seem to be rather expensive these days and I have no real idea where to begin checking out.

Stunt racer FX and Vortex are pretty cool too

Zombies
Street Racer
Sensible Soccer
F-Zero
Super Aleste
Castlevania
Puggsleys Scavenger Hunt
